So, it's expensive and touristy. But you have to see the Last Supper – even if you're in and out for just 20 minutes. It's impressive to see in person and you learn a bit more about the history of the fresco. The church itself is nice and is worth a visit.

This is why you go to Milan, 15 minutes of virtually personal viewing of the Last Supper, absolutely wonderful and perfectly managed and informative.

Santa Maria delle Grazie has been built by Boniforte and Bramante, both are worth lavish praise, but I’d like to point separate masterpiece of ensemble: The Last Supper (Cenacolo Vinciano). Leonardo da Vinci drew it several years few centuries ago, and several years best artists saved it from time recently. In Vienna there is fine Florentine mosaic which is identical copy of bright original Cenacolo Vinciano. Restorers kept real strokes of Leonardo in Milan and fill water-colour lost fragments. Cenacolo Vinciano is non-ideal, but great. Leonardo used perspective like many artists in XV c., but did geniusly, “inserting” perspective of bigger room than real refectory’s walls. Picture wraps you and carries in other world like Rabbit-Hole. Passion of Apostles became of your passion, when you know what happen in morning. Whether you like it or not 30 minutes elapse, and you must do not miss the Crucifixion by Giovanni Donato da Montorfano on opposite wall… and maybe back to Milan and Santa Maria delle Grazie again… and again.

Santa Maria delle Grazie is an important church and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The church is home to Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper (Il Cenacolo) with the dome attributed to Bramante. The interior is light and airy and was intended to be the burial place for the Sforzas, Milano's ruling family and contemporary of Florence's Medicis. Accessing The Last Supper is a bit daunting but very much worth the effort.

This review is solely for Da Vinci's Last Supper painting and the related tour. The painting, and its accompanying explanation, were the highlight of my trip to Milan. Seeing the painting in person -- and learning about it -- was an incredible experience. In the gift shop, be sure to check out the squatting toilets.

Don't just turn up, like I did, hoping you might get to see Last Supper. You won't. Outside of church nice though!

The Last Supper painting is not in this church. It is in the museum building next to this church. The entry to the museum is very limited and when we are there at 1pm, the ticket has been sold out for the whole day.It is a disappointing of course, but the church itself is quite good to enjoy.
