此博物馆位于大教堂旁边，博物馆建筑相当不错，名称是教皇宫，这说明以前此地为教皇所领的。博物馆的进出口分开，一楼部分展示品不算多。二楼展示着绘画、雕塑等，其中，我个人被马赛克做的圣母像与瓷砖的天使浮雕所吸引，也能看到宫殿内部的装饰。与大教堂有联票，这较合算。

Housed in Palazzo Papali, tucked under Museo dell’Opera del Duomo (MODO) is Museo Archeologico Nazionale. This small five room museum is stuffed to overflowing with Etruscan finds from the necropolises around the Orvieto area. Well displayed in large glass cases to allow viewing from all sides. Labels are only in Italian, but do a bit of reading prior to visiting as it will help. Photography is OK but without a flash. Standouts for me were:Full suit of bronze armour; helmet, cuirass, shin guards and shield.Pottery; of which there is lots, even some black bucchero pottery. I also like the cup that had a man’s face as the body of the cup changing into a ram for the base.The tombstone and burial objects are also interesting.A male head with fine features, wavy hair, wearing a crown, made from terracotta and then painted.I really enjoyed this museum, it allows us a look inside a little understood civilization; The Etruscans.I also visited Museo Claudio Faina and Museo Civico, which both have Etruscan pieces also. Which one to choose? Museo Faina probably has more pottery; Museo Archeologico Nazionale has a wider selection of items. This museum located in the town square features the works of the Etruscan people from the past 1,000 years. The pottery is exceptional and all the exhibits were interesting and provided a window into how people lived and created art centuries ago. This attraction is included in the 10 featured attractions that make up the "Key to the City" tour.

The weather had taken a rather wet and windy turn so we ducked into this museum, tucked away behind the Duomo. We were the only two people in it. It's just a ground floor with three large rooms but great quality artefacts. It's a shame there wasn't more English translations on the information boards.That would have made it a lot more interesting for us. For 3Euros - it's great value for money! The Etruscans were very talented craftspeople and there are some really beautiful examples of their treasures on display here. Don't miss out ducking in to two smaller rooms to see the 2ndC and 4thC tomb frescos. They turn the lights on for you.

I liked several things about this museum, the first being its modest entrance fee. Also, it is open far more of the day than other sights. And it's set behind the cathedral so many people miss it, so it usually has just a few people wandering about. Most of the artifacts are from the immediate surrounding area of Orvieto, found by farmers and in small digs as there are many Etruscan tombs here. If you like, you can get one of the docents to take you into a special room and show you an authentic fresco from a tomb of Orvieto, which dates back over 3000 years. If you don't ask you will miss it as they do not keep lights on for fear of damage to the paint. Not to be missed, this museum!

Ashtonishingly good collection from Etruscan grave sites around the city walls. (Also some bronze age and Roman artifacts). Most notable were the Greek vases, red figure and black figure, owned by wealthy Etruscans and traded from the Adriatic.

This museum was included in our Orvieto Carta Unica ticket, so we stopped in. It was worth a visit. This museum is also know as the Museo Claudio Faina e Civico. It is closed on Monday.

Museo Civico Archeologico and the Museo Claudia Faina are housed in the same building adjacent to Orvieto's fabulous doumo. Its displays are well laid out and the interior is user friendly.The name Faina is synonymous with the museum because the rich family donated its extensive collection of thousands of artifacts to the city in 1954.The museum contains materials that were formerly part of the Cathedral Vestry Board, along with more recent finds.The paintings from the Golini I and Golini II tombs, named after their discoverer not who's interred there, are on display in the museum. I loved the opening piece, it's a funery cippus dating back to the 6th century B.C. but it certainly isn't the most ancient item on show.Vases are certainly numerous, as evidenced by the black Attic style one; it dates back to 4th century BC.The famous Temple of Belvedere, an Etruscan monument (just off Viale Crispi near the famous well), supplied many of the items on display. The terra cotta antefix is a fine example; in my humble opinion, the best of that type on display.You can find the museum easily, it's on the right of the Duomo as you face it.

This place was one of my stops on my tour of Italy. It has some awesome artifacts here and a great history perspective of Orvieto.

古代遺跡からの発掘品で唯一興味を惹かれているのはエトルリア時代のもの。特に壺に描かれた黒い彩色画の繊細な筆使いやその絵模様にはほれぼれしてしまう。壺こそ彼らの魂の宿る場そう思いつつ今回もためつすがめつ眺めることが出来た。また二階にあるドウオーモ付属博物館のシモーネ・マルティーニの多翼祭壇画「聖母子と諸聖人」や「聖母子」などのほか壁全面に飾られた絵画や下絵など期待以上のものがあった。

E' così ricca di reperti etruschi (con le due tombe ricostruite in loco) e di reperti provenienti dal vicino Duomo che ci vorrebbe almeno un'intera giornata per apprezzarli a pieno.

Este museu é super interessante, mostrando vários artefatos etruscos antigos, retirados de túmulos através de escavações.

Non molto grande, è possibile vedere molti reperti etruschi. È sempre affascinante scoprire monili e suppellettili usati millenni fa. Il personale è molto preparato, quindi se avete domande non esitate a chiedere, perché vi sapranno dare risposte esaurienti.

Se sei un appassionato di Etruria vale la pena spendere del tempo nella visita del museo in cui, oltre ai tanti vasi e gioielli, si può accedere alla ricostruzione di una tomba etrusca con degli affreschi unici. Mi raccomando poche foto.

In una sede affacinante già di per se stessa, il Museo offre una buona selezione di corredi di tombe, ben esposti e, al solito, illustrati con didascalie scientificamente corrette, ma credo incomprensibili ai più (quanti sanno cos'è una oinocohe, uno strigile o un cratere?). Notevoli l'armatura quasi completa di un guerriero (peccato che l'elmo sia montato alla rovescio!) e gli elementi della decorazione architettonica di un grande tempio. Interessanti anche le due tombe affrescate ricostruite all'interno del percorso.
