广场被熙熙攘攘的游人淹没，各种摊档也多为售卖旅游纪念品，失去了城市较为本色的一面。不过，圣灵大教堂、海神尼普顿喷泉和骑士之屋会令广场增色。

这是海德堡旧城的中心广场。西边有哥特式建筑的圣灵教堂，其规模加上棕色墙砖、黑色的屋顶，很有威压感。东边有市政厅，建筑的颜色比教堂明亮，且窗前摆着花，感觉有点亲切。中间有喷水池，立着海格力斯的塑像，有人坐在池边台阶上休息，也有人坐在有露天咖啡店休息。“Markt Square”就是市场广场，听说周三、周六的上午有早市，我们正好周三去，但到那儿的时候已经是下午，没能赶上早市。

This square is what one would expect in an Old Town in Europe. There are shops, restaurants and cafe's in this area and is near the church. Walk it on a nice day and spend some time there to get the experience of being in an old European city.

The vendors around the perimeter of church seem to have junk and more junk. But the square itself is surrounded by attractive structures and cafes. It's a nice place to rest and recover from walking around Alstadt and visiting the bridge.

Walking in the main street towards the old city, all the shops, restaurants, boutiques , everything looking really good, clean and everyone seems to enjoy it

You can see the Heidelberg Castle up at the hill when you in the market square. The square has some very nice shops and restaurants. It's worth to stroll around.

This is the central square in the Altstadt. Lots of shops around, good place to sit and eat lunch at Christmas Market. Also an easy walk to the castle.

this place is always booming but if you want to really see something beautiful come during the winter to the christmas market there.

This is the central square in the old town. Lots of shops around, good place to sit and eat lunch and people watch. Also an easy walk from here to the funicular for the castle. Outdoor stalls around the church for touristy shopping as well.

We were very lucky with the weather, 23 - 26 degr. C, and the market was full with happy people. It was weekend and next to the tourists the city was filled with locals also having a great day

I loved the architecture and the fact that you can see the castle above the roofs of the buildings. You can also see wedding parties drinking champagne as they post for photographs

We had superb weather during our visit so sat in the Square with a glass of wine. The square its self is lovely and quaint and there is always something going on.

A very nice area, but lots of tour groups so quite crowded at times. We went in October, not prime vacation time, so I can only imagine how much busier it might be in the warmer months. Lots of shops and restaurants catering to tourists, which aren't necessarily the best quality one could find in Heidelberg. The smaller side streets back away from the main square are more tranquil, and therefore give one a better feel for everyday life.

You could spend days wandering around the streets of Heidelberg and the Market Square (Marktplatz) is a great place to spend some time. We arrived later in the day and spent time walking around before having dinner at a nearby restaurant. Parking is easy with some large parking garages around the edges of the Old Town (Altstadt).

It is square that looks like one in every small european city. we really liked it. Well worth a visit. The best way to explore Heidelberg is a walk through its old charming streets.
