A nice walk at the rim of the vineyards a bit uphill with a kind of surrounding view of the Neckar valley, the vineyards, the cradle of the automobile: the Mercedes factory in Untertuerkheim, the Daimler Arena and on top of course the Chapel which tells a bit of the Wurttemberg kingdom.

The chapel is on top of a hill, surrounded by vineyards. It is a great starting point for extensive walks through the vineyards and along the Neckar river.Too bad that the whole area closes before sunset and you can't even get close to it anymore. It would be a romantic spot to enjoy a warm indian summer night.

The chapel is closed on Mondays, so my husband and I were only able to enjoy the view, which is amazing. Even just the view is worth making the trip.

Expect good views from Stuttgart and a visit to a romantic spot but the interior has nothing interesting and the ticket is quite expensive. I would recommend to walk around the temple

We took a long walk from the train station (Unterturkheim) to the top of the hill to see Grabkapelle. Although the walk was a bit physically challenging, but we enjoyed it a lot as it runs through the fields and gardens.

Very beautiful chapel built by the former king for his wife. It is located on the hills within vineyards. You can have a very nice walk with views on the Neckar Valley with it's Mercedes plants and the museum. Do not miss to visit the cellar of the Collegium Wirttemberg producing excellent local wines (just on your way up to the chapel if you go by car)

This is an amazing example of Neoclassical Shrine, the place itself is a perfect spot for the surroundings of Stuttgart, all around you can give a look to the vineyards and you have a direct view over the Mercedes Benz factory and the Arena.From the outside the Chapel looks amazing with a great staircase that brings you to the front entrance and the inscription "Love never dies....". The structure is symmetric with plenty of doric columns and all elements that invaded european architecture after the discovery of Pompei in the late 1760. The interior are simple with four statues representing the four evangelist, from a little wood staircase at the right of the entrance is possible to go down into the crypt where the king, queen and princess are buried and rest for eternity.Really nice place to visit just few kilometers outside Stuttgart.

I loved the Capelle! It is amazing but the view is also stunning. You can overview the city and the vineyards arround. Just amazing!

It's actually the first orthodox church in Germany, and there are services here once a year. Built on the site of the original Castle Württemberg, it dominates the countryside. Its architecture was heavily influenced by the Pantheon in Rome, and the upper story is the church, while below, in the crypta, are the graves of Queen Catherine, for whom the church was built; King Wilhelm, and their two daughters.It takes a while to get to, but both the church and the view are magnificent.

Not so easy to reach by public transport, so it is easier to go by car. But on top you have an exceptional view over the valley of the Neckar river. Good weather you see clearly steep hills of Schwäbische Alb, Stuttgart and the industries in this valley

Go for a hike to the Grabkapelle. It worth year around. You will have fantastic views over Stuttgart, the Neckar valley and the vineyards from up there. Park the car down in Untertuerckheim and hike up through the vineyards on well maintained little roads or stairs for little shortcuts.

This is one of the oldest churches in the area. It was badly damaged during World war II. They have done a great job restoring it, beautifully weaving together new architectural elements with the old ones.

It is situated above a small village in the wineyards and offeers a great view over the valley. But it closes quite early in the afternoon.

The chapel itself is nothing special, to be honest, especially if you've seen a lot of churches and cathedrals already. The reason to go up here is the view. It is in the middle of the vineyards, and you can see much of Stuttgart spread out below. Take the UBahn to Untertuerkheim, then bus 61 to get up to Rotenberg. There's a hike up the hill, but really worth it. Nice restaurants in Rotenberg or Uhlbach, which is another of Stuttgart's neighborhoods nearby.
