We arrived with a mist surrounding the castle which made for really neat photos. Couldn't see the valley below which made it look like the castle was rising out of nothing. The tour was in German so we had a little trouble following along, but really enjoyed the old guns, suits of armour and the other historical items.

A wonderfull little castle, very intresting, full of history and charmevery nice view about the Echaz Valley and the villiges around.
EDLichtenstein
Named for the white rock it sits on (bright stone = Lichtenstein in German), this is the ultimate in picturesque locations! From the outside you can walk just up the path from the drawbridge to a little outcrop to get pictures from one side, or if you walk back towards the main enterance there is a small building with a stepped doorway that you can stand on to get pictures from the other angle.Inside the castle is well appointed and clearly well cared for. And since the castle itself is small, the tour is quick and to the point.Take some time to wander the grounds too, not just inside the walls, but outside as well. Lots of good picture opportunities.

Located on a mountain, the grounds are beautiful, with great views of the area and castle. The tour of the inside is worth it, even without a tour guide using your native language. (They have printed tour guides at the ticket counter.)

We only saw it from the outside but still we liked it a lot. We were on our way to Germany from Zurich and took a detour to see Lichtenstein. Castle sits on the side of the mountain and looks beautiful. Great picture opportunity if you are in the area.

Getting there it's not that easy if you're not by car. But the hard work is worth. Over the mountain there are the castle, a restaurant and something with hiking (not special thing). They don't accept credit cards, everything in cash. The castle is on the edge of a great of the mountain. Very nice sightseeing of and from it. We took the wander way from the next city, it was also thrilling and it made our tour more special. I highly recommend if you're around in Baden-Würtemberg. What a sigh of theses mountains.

We were driving from the Black Forest to Rothenburg and thought the castle would be a great site on the way. We were really glad we went, we caught a tour right when we got there, it wasn't an English tour but since there were a few of us that spoke English, the guide did half the tour in English and half in german. The rooms were quite beautiful and there are some interesting stories mentioned in the tour. One of our favourite parts was the painting of the crossbow archer at the end (we ended up buying a poster of it at the ticket office because it was fun and unusual).I would highly recommend this castle, it really doesn't take long and was very interesting.

If you find yourself in Stuttgart, a day trip to this small castle is greatly recommended. The castle is small, but it is worth the visit, and the view from the castle is amazing.

This castle is a great day trip destination from Stuttgart. The views are stunning and it is a very easy hike/walk to the castle. The tour is in German, but they offer pages with translation in English so we were able to learn the history of the castle. A must-see if you are in the area!

A small but sweet castle with many amazing details. A tour guides you through quickly and warmhearted. The price is appropriate. Time is short enough to even fly by for children.

We visited the castle on our touring itinerary. The view from the valley below is great as it stands out on a peak and really looks the part. Inside the grounds the castle is also looks really good, especially from certain angles for photos. The tour inside was disappointing however as the castle was small and in most rooms lacked the WOW factor found in other castles. The tour is not in English and you cannot take photos inside the castle. Well worth a stop and photos if you are in this area.

Seeing Lichtenstein castle from photos it looks very impressive. Seeing it in real life, you realize it's actually quite tiny! The interesting architecture of this towered castle on its mound with it's drawbridge still makes it worth visiting, but it's quite a quick visit after you've taken your pictures, taken the short tour and soaked in the view of the surrounding valley. You can go inside the castle on a tour which takes you through a handful of rooms (5 rooms or so if I remember correctly). I would have liked to see more of the castle and would have really liked to go up the tower but unfortunately it's not part of the tour. The small size of the whole structure means that the rooms are also very small. Still they are richly decorated but somehow the size makes it all a little less impressive than expected. The guided tour of the interior was in German only, and we were given written guides to read as we were taken on the tour though we did feel like we missed out on a few jokes during the tour.Since it's a relatively quick visit (about 1-2 hours), I'd combine with with doing other things to do in the area like seeing the charming town, Tubingen which is about 30-40 mins drive away.

This is the coolest castle I have seen. It is perched on a stone cliff and looks as if it was comes out of the rock. We didn't go inside, but seeing it from the outside was just amazing and only cost a couple of Euros.

This castle was amazing!!! Pretty small compared to other castles, but sooo cute. The view is breathtaking as well, plus its right on the edge of a cliff, which makes it so much more unique. The picture do not do any justice, you must come and see it for yourself.Even though the tour was in German, and I only know like 5 words in German, they do give you a paper with the same info in English, so I was able to follow the tour and read along.

This castle complex is amazing. First of all, while it is on a hill, you do not have to climb the hill to get to it. Instead, you simply park in the parking lot for 2 euro, and across the street, you will see the castle grounds on the other side of the field. from the outside, the castle doesn't look like much, and we almost did not go in, but for a couple of euro, you can walk around the grounds and be prepared to be impressed. We did not pay for the tour inside the castle, but the outside was fantastic. The area also sports a restaurant and bier garten, but we did not stop at either.
