This was an unexpected delight as we walked around downtown Munich. This farmer's market probably covers an acre with a dazzling display of honey, dozens of varieties of mushrooms, and enough finger foods that all you need for lunch is to casually stroll from booth to booth. Don't rush yourself, there are plenty of places to enjoy a great beer before once again heading toward the booths again. There are places to purchase tourist items--but I came for the food. Check for schedules.

We walked through the Marianplatz to the market, wandered all through it, and then picked up bread, cheese, olives, stuffed peppers, anchovies, and strawberries. It was a delightful afternoon and even better meal.

The market is a great place to visit to buy foodie souvenirs, eat lunch or breakfast and have a beer in the sun. I particularly liked the honey shop and the amazing baked goods. Highly recommended for a pit stop.

If you want to experience the atmosphere of the local market, you should come here. If you want to buy some special ingredients, fruits or seasoning, you should come here. If you want to eat fresh and inexpensive food, you should come here. There is a metro station around the market and it takes around 5 minutes to visit the market from central station. It should be the great spots for tourists, especially for Asian travellers. Just spend around three hours here to experience the local culture and great foods.

Lots of booths with different eats and crafts to check out. Beer was great and plenty of tables to sit at. No public restroom that i noticed which made it difficult for me after my liter of beer. Near lots of attractions and public transportation.

Viktualienmarkt is located immediately around the corner of Marienplatz. At lunchtime the market will be flooded with locals and tourists haveing lunch and visiting the area around. And exactly that gives the wonderful atmosphere of busy people, but cozy lunchtime and a great mix of an international choice of food mixed with the traditional bavarian ambiente. You will find everything around! Fruits, Veggies, Herbs from all over the world, traditional food and beer, international kitchen.Try to have a seat in middle of the busy lunchtables and share your story with someone else and meet fantastic people.

From the famous Marienplatz to the Viktualienmarkt is just a very small stroll. Even in winter this is a must do ! Keep slowly walking in the area, don't be shy to enter and you will discover the interest of this area. We had a very nice lunch at ' Nordsee '. ( a fish bar situated in a building in the center of the market. There are 3 options : 1 - the fishshop were you can buy all kind of fresh seafood and prepared food . 2- a restaurant section where you can have meals at small high tables without seats for a good price . 3 - sitting at the bar with an amazing choice of fresh seafood. They prepare it in front of you and it was realy nice. Calculate 75 euro for two including 2 big glasses of white Burgunder. We enjoyed it very much......

Every trip to Munich has to include at least one trip to the Viktualienmarkt.....The beers are excellent, the atmosphere jovial, the food....well nothing bad to say, the choices are just incredible. You see so many different nationalities in one place. The fresh fruit and vegetables are out of this world and the selection of sausages and cheeses - well so much to take in (take a huge shopping bag)....highly recommend this for any tourist
