We arrived when this market was already open. It is like most markets in Germany, a good selection of most food types and flowers. The cheese selections are really good. It was snowing at the time so it only added to the whole feel of the town. The market overflows from just outside the council building and then again on the other side of the DOM. You can grab a good coffee or just shop for those foods you might like to eat in your hotel room if you are travelling. Like a lot of the paving, it can get bumpy but wheelchairs and strollers with big wheels should be fine. I would love to attach photos but Trip Advisor has been having some real problems with uploading photos and crashing 9 out of 10 times when the upload happens.

The Market is situated outside the Aachen town hall. There's a fountain, medieval architecture and some open-air cafes and pubs nearby. When I was there, there were some vans selling fast food (chips), meat, and vegetables.

Nice place to meet people, sit have a drink or something to eat. Different type of cafes with snacks or good dining day or night. Plus you have various shops nearby. Great for Saturdays as you can combine the two. Twice weekly there is a fresh produce market. Occasionally there are things going on in the market place. Get togethers, music, all various things. Plus their Christmas market is held there. Lovely place to sit in the summer drinking cocktails or eating ice creams watching the people go by.

If you’re in town or close by, don’t miss the chance to visit the Christmas Market in December. The square becomes very alive with bands playing nice songs and several cottages selling food, drinks and Christmas items. It can get quite crowded but despite of that, the atmosphere is great and the Rathaus (town hall) is especially pretty when ornamented with Christmas decorations. Make sure you try the Curry Wurst and the hot chocolate mmm ;)

Visited here in December for the Christmas Market. The whole square comes to life filled with thousands of people and all the Christmas stands. The atmosphere was very Christmassy with a hefty stench of Gluehwein. Only one problem is the very early closing time - the neighbours I hear have complained about the noise - a sad situation

Nice old market place, dominated by the Rathaus (town hall). Places to eat available, shops too. From the market place you can walk around the old city center.

The Christmas Market is generally cold and crowded, but still worth a visit. Was able to find parking in a parking ramp about 10 minutes away, and spent about half a day there. Be prepared for cold weather and you'll have a great time!

We went in the middle of december so in this square there was a Christmas Market very pretty filled with cottages that sell food and different German Christmas ítems, Little houses, Christmas spheres, nutcrackers, come clothes, hats, scarfs, great gluwein and eier punch (like egnogg and if you like it with some alcohol). You can spend a very nice time looking and/or shopping in a very German and Christmas ambiance.

What a beautiful little town to visit. Especially for the Christmas market, which we have now made our regular Christmas haunt.I drive about 80-90mph from Calais, and without stopping and in fair weather, we get to Aachen in about 3-3.5hrs. Parking around the centre can be a bit difficult, but there is free parking outside the Lindt factory on weekends, and it's about 10-15min walk to the market. As the closest German market to the border, it can get a bit busy the closer to Christmas you leave your visit, but if you love a quaint little town with beautiful architecture and a wonderful history, this is the place for you. A wide variety of stalls across three squares, within easy walking distance of each other, and under the shadow of the awesome 'gothic-y' cathedral, are stocked full of little trinkets, with the odd must-have gift purchases. Our favourites (and we get one every year) are the small ceramic houses that you can buy. We've got a few now, and they are a nice addition to our Christmas decorations!If like me, you're a little embarrassed that you don't speak German, don't worry. The locals put us to shame with their multilingual abilities. Everyone speaks English excellently! I asked for "currywurst mit un friten' and was presented with a single chip on top of my currywurst. Who said the Germans had no sense of humour?! At least I tried!Lots of Printen shops, but keep an eye on how much you're being charged for Stollen and the like in the Nobis shops. I'd swear they gold-plate their wares! We buy our Printen from the stalls, much cheaper and just as tasty. The first couple of times we went, it snowed, and it was magical. Drinking hot chocolate and gluhwein whilst listening to the bands and choirs certainly helps the Christmas mood!We'll be going again...and again.

Nice, well established Christmas market with good prices and very festive live music and great mulled wine. Also worth a visit are the Sinn Leffer and other department stores for good prices.The Christmas market is highly recommended, especially when it snows !

The marketplace is a nice place to take some time. In winter a christmas market is set up with lot's of entertainment, foods and drinks. It gives the real chirstmas spirit.

I was a little disappointed with the size of this market, which was actually quite small. However, I enjoyed the food, the nice people and the real Christmas feel. Also the Printen are recommended! Search for Nobis at the Market, they have the best in town. I would not go back to Aachen for its Christmas Market but I had a nice day after all :)

The Christmas Market was beautiful and went all around the catherdral. Although personally there was not much to purchase that took my fancy, the atmosphere is lovely, but at times crazily busy!

We have visited several Christmas Markets in both Holland and Germany so we are not exactly first timers. Our first mistake was to visit on the weekend before Christmas. The market was really packed and was wall to wall people which made it hard to really enjoy it to its fullest. It is a big market and is in three sections around the Cathedral. We were a bit disappointed in the stalls that were selling their wares. Basically even though it was big they were selling the same things in all the areas. There were some unique items sparsely thrown in. There are plenty of food choices and lots of wonderful things to eat. Drink locations were also nicely scattered around here and there. We did not think that the prices were out of the ordinary for this type of venue.

this was our 3rd visit to Aachen , the past 2 in the summer so we were really looking forward to going to the Christmas market and we weren't disapointed !!The atmosphere was very festive loads of lovely food and gifts , plenty of places to stop off for Hot Chocolate and then plenty of toilets !!!! lol my main reason for going to Aachen is the PRINTON i love it xx i spent a fortune and managed to fill half of my suitcase with it xthe weather was wet & windy so not the best of day's BUT as it was my 50th Birthday i wasn't going to let that bother me , i would go back again BUT this time with an empty suitcase so i can fill it with PRINTON !!!
