Take a boat around here for a small fee-it is a must do when visiting Kastellorizo. It is a lot smaller than you think so be careful when diving in. Probably better when tide is lower. When you dive in go and enter the cave as the colours are amazing. Worth the trip.

You need a boat to reach the blue cave and an experienced driver to get you inside but the view and the feeling inside is just perfect. Don't miss it!!!

It is a very special place and I heard people describe it as the best cave in the Mediterranean area but was sceptical. I believe it. It is amazingly heavenly.

We thought it was probably going to be waste of €20, as I have done this sort of trip before. But Tony the water taxi man, talked us into it, and I must say with a little trepidation, we blasted through this tiny surging hole, to reappear in this amazing blue cave, which I swam in.

We used Antonis Patiniotis Sea taxi on Kastellorizo to ferry us to the Blue Grotto after sailing over in the ferry from Kas in Turkey.I did think it was strange to see the bottom of the small boat carpeted when we stepped aboard, but the reason for this soon became clear as we neared the entrance to the cave, about a twenty minute boat trip from the harbour. Antonis instructed us (there were six of us) to lie down on the bottom of the boat so that we could get through the opening without being decapitated!! From our viewpoint, it didn't look as if it was possible for a boat to get through it - the tide was quite high and the entrance was tiny! But we did as instructed and inched our way through, holding our breaths as we did so. Antonis was right - it was a squeeze, but we made it unharmed.A glorious deep blue awaited us, reflecting dancing colours off the damp walls and ceiling, an eerie silence within the cavern. Luckily for us, this was out of season and for at least fifteen minutes, we were the only boat inside. Magic. A host of photo opportunities so don't forget your camera. When it was time to leave, we had to go through the same routine as before - lying down on the bottom of the boat, this time scraping the sides as we squashed through to the other side.A great experience and definitely worth the 10 Euros it cost for the journey.

Other worldly. Captain Antonis Patinitotis gave us a fun tour and does daily excursions around the island. He sailed right in to the grotto, so we didn't need to jump in and swim, which we were grateful for as we were catching the ferry later that morning! It's also quite eerie at th back, darker reaches. We ant at 8am when the tides were prefect and we were the only people there. Special

I have been to the various blue grotto's around the world but this is a must see-I have been here a number of times and I never tire of the different shades of blue, of the peace and tranquility of the grotto, of the depth of the cave, of the kingfishers that I see swooping in and out and of the oohs... and ahhs.... that I hear from the mouth of first timers- I have been with both Captain Andonis and Captain Steve and both get you through the cave entrance at a gasp. Andonis speaks English so he gives you a great tourist run down of the island and its sights. Captain Steve has been sailing the seas of Kastellorizo since he was a small child so his experiences are first hand and he also tells you about how the pirates used the cave. Make sure you go during good weather- if the sea is rough, it is hard to enter and can be a little frightening.

People's experience of this place will vary depending on the weather and the tide at the time. Obviously I can only write about our experience. We knew when we departed that it was near high tide and would be touch and go whether the boat could enter the cave. Failing that we understood that we could swim in. We went with Antoni of Antoni's Water Taxis, 10 euros per person. The speedboat trip around the rocky shore was fun. When we arrived at the cave we couldn't believe Antoni could possibly take the boat in. The five passengers had to lie low on the floor of the boat. He scraped the bow on the roof and then gunned the engine to shoot through and pop up inside. He seemed very nervous about getting stuck inside. I doubt we were there for more than 2 minutes. He got a bit surly at that point, but was better once out. I'd recommend you enquire about the tide and conditions before you commit, so your expectations are reasonable.

The blue colour of the water in the grotto is amazing. We travelled by boat into the grotto. It can be difficult to get a boat in due to the height of the water in the grotto. We understand some people swim in while the boat stays out, meaning you would have to tread water while inside. Our captain Kostas was very accommodating and clearly has good seamanship skills. Visiting the grotto is the must do activity in Kastellorizo.

Absolutely amazing. Very serene, try to time it with the tides so you can spend half an hour inside the cave!

We take a speed boat at 11 am. Ten euros per person. 10 min bumpy journey on the waves. It was really good experience for us. We swam in and the inside of cave was amazing.

We rent a speed boat from the main harbour, for 10 euros per person and it takes 10 min to go to the cave..Due to the season (august) water level was high and although we went there in the morning around 10:00, we could not get inside with boat, so we jumped into the sea and get inside swimming with my husband and my year old daughter who is a good swimmer as well. 32 meters height inside and goes 80 meters deep as we have learned. Our captain Kostas who waited outside while we swim in and asked us to keep close to the entrance while we are inside as it was very wavy ... Definitely took your googles in to see your body turns into electric blue inside the water. Must see how mother nature rules ..

A simply sensational attraction, Make sure you get out of the boat and have a swim this this magestic sea cave. Go with Captain George who will also take you to the little island of Ro.

The Blue Grotto is a must do if you get to Kastelorizo. Early morning gets the best light so if you can try and aim for that. Plenty of guides to take you, we took Tony and he was great. A swim is something amazing, it makes you glow in the water!
