Many tours go no further than the theater, but this is just beyond the theater. You can pass it and not realize you missed it. Get a good map. Some of the best mosaics are here.

The house is very impressive, with the ancient masks still being where they have been for thousands of years. There is a fence around the house so that you cannot actually enter the house. You get a good impression of it though, and you can take some good pictures.

The fresco type floor at this site says it all - a true work of art, in one of the larger house at the site bespeaking of a lifestyle that has long passed and whose splendor which we can only imagine.

When you enter this house and see the gorgeous flooring still intact, it is just stunning. Of course, then everyone in your group is focussed on getting good photos of the mosaic, which is really too large to get a good photo of, and I am guilty of that myself. But to just stand and take it in, to think of what it must have been like to live in such a tight-knit community, just like a modern congested city, so many millenia ago, is incredible. It definitely was just another factor that made my visit to Delos the highlight of my trip to the Eastern Mediterranean.

This place is beautiful. The ruins are amazing, the amount of preservation is stunning. The boat trip is nice but unfortunately you have to stop over at mykonos for a few hours. It's also quite expensive for what it is, but it's well worth a look. On the first boat which starts out from Paros, don't stand on the top deck. Everyone does thinking they'll get nice views but you end up soaked in water from the splash back of the engines.

When our cruise ship anchored at Mykonos, we particularly wanted to see the ruins at Delos. The only way to do that was the ship’s tour, since we anchored at 2:30 PM and the public excursion boats only go to Delos in the morning. The tour turned out to be excellent. Delos was the site of a bustling center of religion and trade. You can really get a sense of how the rich people lived from their beautiful mosaics, frescos, fountained courtyards, and other house decorations. This tour is probably only for the serious history or archaeology buff, but was very interesting. Contrary to what I’d read in guidebooks, there is a shop on Delos where refreshments can be purchased and restrooms utilized.

Vale a visita.
