Back to nature! Yes its the only please that you reconnect with nature. And how couldn't you as you have in front of you the Aegean. On the back a marvelous river with waterlife and a well know water habitat for many species of birds. You need of course a 4x4 to go...and lots of patience as it is 40 minutes from the tarmac...and until the turn to go the dirt road another 30 minutes through winding roads...but the villages images will make you company until you reach the destination. Bring an umbrella for the sun.

Very nice beach but the road to reach it is very bad during the last 10 kms. Our car really suffered.

Don't go there if you don't have a 4X4. You have to reach the mountain top and go downhill from a country, gravel road. If you don't use a 4X4 you will still make it to the beach after an hour or so of hard drive, but it is not sure that this kind of car will make it back to the top! Have in mind that there are no protective railings of any kind. Alternatively, you can rent a boat and go via the sea. I think it costs 13€/person. A local told me that the local authority doesn't want to repair this road because any celebrity and/or rich shipowner who go to Achla with their yacht prefer some peace and quite, and if the road is nice the beach will be full every day with the rest of the people (us)! Achla is a beautiful beach but the island of Andros is full of beautiful beaches with very clean waters and you don't have to risk your life to get there.

Go early! As early as possible. More and more people know about this beach so it get popular around 11am -2pm Drive carefully, the road is nasty.

Two years later we returned to Achla. Still one of the most amazing beaches in the world in my opinion. All the complaints about driving here - you should have taken the Rania, which leaves from the port near Chora Town. Great way to get to the best beach in Greece. The Beach Bar is a great addition - had the best margarita I have had ANYWHERE not just in Greece.

nice beach, but you need an suv to better come here. you can use a usual car but it will take more time and "pain"from this year on it also has a small cantinacome prepared bring your own umprella, water, food etcCRYSTAL CLEAR water, nice golden sand beachyou just wanna stay there forever
LENAA587
it is a great beach with amazing rock formations but it does take a great deal of time to get to and I would advice a 4X4. Other beaches equally exciting in the same area have less people and are easier to reach.

If you choose to go to Achla beach by car you are going to get tired as the road for 7 klm is very bad. But when you arrive you are not going to believe that there is such place hidden in the other side of the mountain. Its a paradise on earth. It’s really worth it to go there. Be patient and drive or you can take a boat. There are many boats where you pay a ticket and you can go there. Enjoy it.

In order to reach this beach you need to have a jeep or a 4x4 car because the half hour rocky and dirty road to get there is really dangerous. We went there by boat from Andros main town which costed €12,50 per person return. The boat service operates when the sea is calm, otherwise its suspended until the weather (winds etc) gets better. The beach itself is beautiful and unspoiled, no sunbeds etc so you have to take your own unmbrellas. The water is magic, crystal clear and looks like a caribbean beach with the bright colours etc. Definitely go there if you visit Andros.

Came here by boat from Chora (12.5 euros/person) due to hard dirt road access. The beach is nice (not spectacular) with a nice natural environment because of the river which ends there. However, we were negatively surprised by the noise coming from the beach bar, both from the music and the very loud electric generator. In addition to that, view to the sea was disturbed by a large number of boats parking all across, so blocking it all. Plus it was stressy to swim a little further because some fast boats were coming in with high speed (which is illegal) plus there were also a few jet-skis close to the shore making it even more dangerous for swimmers. On some point we also saw a large wave of bubbles and garbage floating out, probably one of the boats emptied their trash there:(This beach should have been completely unspoilt, but human intervention once more ruined it...

the beach is beautiful, the water is fantastic. thats probably also why there are more and more tourists going despite the bumpy road down. it can be windy like most beaches in andros

This must be one of the most stunningly beautiful beaches in the whole of Greece. It is a wide stretch of pure sand in a very pretty cove with easy access into the water. However, it has its drawbacks! Because it is so sandy, it is best avoided when a strong north wind is blowing, unless you want a free dermabrasion session! It is difficult to access by road as it takes about an hour from the top Tarmac road down a very long, windy and sometimes difficult unmade dirt track - probably best done in a 4x4. Lots of people get there by boat from Chora, which is the easiest way. We have walked there many times from a footpath leading from the back of the Agias Nicholias monastery. This takes about an hour and a half down, and about two and a half hours back up, and is not for the faint-hearted. There is an awful lot of going up on the way back! However, it was always well worth it, and as we have gone out of season we have sometimes been lucky enough to have this stunning beach all to ourselves - heavenly!

and maybe one of the best beaches on the world. Keep in mind that access by car is very difficult, and the 8km from the main road is so badly that can take more than 40 minute to descend. When you decide to go, find a boat or rent a 4X4 car. The scenery is breathtaking and the bad road prevents crowds to descend, so it is very quiet. The waters are unique and you should pay a visit to the small river.

The best beach ever: clean, fresh and almost desert! unfortunately, very difficult to reach (either by Quad or 4x4 car, in a very tough 8 km road)

Achla is definitely one of the most stunning beaches I have ever seen. White sand. Beautiful water. Scenery. just perfect.
