In spite of the great number of skiers meeting at Schmittenhohe the great number of lifts and gondolas made it easy to find the best way to enjoy skiing or snowboarding.

A great place for skiing, suitable for beginners and more experienced skiers, with plenty of panoramic pistes and excellent facilities.

I went there for my first snowsport holiday and I found it to be a great place for beginners. There is a nice number of good easy slopes, and some easy to grasp reds for the later part of the week. The lifts are good quality and fairly fast, and the restaurants aren't too expensive. The only issue is that it was a little crowded with some queueing at times, especially in the morning. I recommend the Berg Hotel for lunch.

Had to start skiing there as my son's ski classes began there. Ok to get to on full free bus but City Express is easier. Nice set up though with the escalator.

The Schmittenhohe ski area sits above Zell am See and has great views over the lake and town. The lift system is modern and fairly efficient although some of the feeder lifts can have large queues during peak periods. The ski area has just about enough to keep you occupied for two or three days but be warned the mountain is full of intermediate skiers traversing the slopes in unpredictable manner resulting in cut up slopes by midday. Head over to the Sonnealm area as the pistes are much quieter or stick to the black valley runs as the average visitors tend to leave them alone.Having said all that, the mountain is great for beginners and families.

Morning queues at Areitbahn are large and it should be forbidden to smoke in the queue. Otherwise excellent carwe for the slopes etc.

Excellent skiing and facilities for all levels of skiers. Some great restaurants on the pistes too. The ski school was very good too.

Overt the years of going to zell for skiing is nice to see that the tradition is still been kept on this slips as others in the area are becoming more commercialised. Cab recommend most restaurants on the slopes

My first family ski trip. My 18 year old went snowboarding, my 5 yr old did ski school and my wife and I enjoyed general skiing. The views from the Mountain are amazing and the Pistes are great for all levels of skiing. The Lift passes entitle you you use other mountains so are great value.Parking for the cable cars is free, however you need to be there early otherwise you might be some distance away, or you could use the excellent free bus service. This is a mature resort with all the facilities you would want for a perfect ski holiday.plenty of ski hire locations offering free overnight locker storage, so just pop in and collect them in the morning.I had an amazing time and will be popping back as soon as I can.If I had the energy I would love to visit in summer and see the mountain minus the snow and climb to the top and Yodel...lol.

This is a great ski area especially if you are a beginner. There are also higher-level runs but I cannot evaluate those because I am a beginner. Overall, I really enjoyed learning to Ski at Schmittenhohe. Especially, the lifts are very good quality and in mint condition.

The trip up in the new cable car is an experience on its own. A very smooth ride that takes no time at all. Once up the view are something to experience and are everywhere you look. The peace and quiet have to be seen and heard. (Silence is golden). Plenty of places to eat with a great choice of food and drink. The cable car travels up and down regularly, so if you miss one, it's not long till the next. Certainly a great day out with plenty of walks. For the energetic, you can get the cable car up and walk back down. about a 3 1/2hr walk, (I've heard).

The ski domain above Zeller Lake has one of the most soothing panoramic views in Europe. Add to that a formidable slope system (although not the largest you'll find, but for most people easily enough for a week) with a newly restored lift system, the longest fun slope for children and child like adults in the world (they claim) and lots of cozy lunch diners - and you'll find it hard not to have a glorious time. The area also looks very tempting during summer. I, for one, will strongly consider going back.

Schmittenhohe is a great skiing area for families. Can highly recommend, good lifts and connections, slopes are both easy, moderate and difficault which makes it attractive for everybody.

Best place we found for Wiener Schnitzel! A largish, traditional resto with a focused menu and a decent wine list.
