silvretta montafon nova

This summer we stayed in Sankt Gallenkirch, Austria, and made several walks startin g from thei. One of them was a trip uphill to Silvretta Montafon Nova. It was a beautiful day with stunning views, and when we arrived at noon at the restaurant it was crowded, none the less we were served a good meal in a decent time. Prices were very reasonable and staff were friendly and professional. From there we took the lift back to the valley.If you visit the area, be sure to buy the Montafon Card!

Just be fore Christmas we visit the Montafon area for skiing / snowboarding.With all messages of bad snow / no snow, we where amazed on the conditions and enjoyed the 4 day's we had to spend.

infrastructure, lifts, pistes and shops all top notch.plenty of snow and many open skiing routes when we where there,a bit more quiet and sqare compared to france but many may like it.food is good but not much to offer for the vegetarians among us ;)this might change in time.

We did this in the summertime. Took the lift up. Hiked up at the top. Spectacular scenery. Lots of fun watching the para-gliders. A magical spot. Took the high alpine road to get there (on BMW motorcycles) added to the fun.

We went on december 2013, 60 students from Darmstadt, Germany. There was not a lot of snow but enough to enjoy these slopes and the views of the Austrian alps. The après ski in Gaschurn is so good as well!

Lots of good skiing above the tree line. Lots of marked unpisted itinerary runs for confident advanced skiiers.

Fantasic ski area and very well kept pistes. The mountain hotels were good and the food lovely.The bus linked area was excellent and ski lockers at the Gondala,s

Loads of snow and pretty quiet. Easy, short commute from Zurich Airport either by hire car or train. Easy toa ccess the whole Montafon ski area.

There is nothing to dislike about this region.It is almost like a picture postcard with superb walking and scenery.If you are driving then be careful to look for 2 speed cameras ,one as you are entering the Montafon valley and the second in the St.Anton im Montafon village.

Many new lifts, lines were short and lifts connected 2 different mountains with out have to use a ski bus

Not so crowed, but I find the slopes in general to short. you ski a little bit and then you have to take a lift...

Have been here several times over the years. Was my first resort conquered in Europe. Loved it for its views of the surrounding alps and Montafon Valley. Disliked it for...no reason really. AHA...the drive out. One long narrow road that can be VERY slow. So many skiers leaving this resort and all others in the area. Either leave a bit early or hang out for a few drinks afterwards. Or...enjoy some traffic. And the runs can get kinda icy and hardpacked..thats it.The resort is big, it gets great snowfall, and there is some (not as much as I prefer, but acceptable) free riding and off-piste riding in trees, and high speed lifts. Now that the new gondola connected this resort with Hochjoch across the valley this resort is one of the largest in Austria, and the largest in the state of Vorarlberg. Friends complained of narrow, icy runs, but they are only speaking of the long runs all the way to St Gallenkirche. With so many riders/skiers the run does get copped up, narrow, and icy in the shadows, so, don't suck and don't fall on hard pack. Upper part of the resort is wide open and has some fun runs. I enjoy the vastness of this resort, skiing to all of the different high points and enjoying the amazing surrounding views. Check this place out. Won't be disappointed!

The Alps offer the best skiing, whether the dolomites or Austria or Mont Blanc; but Montafon is perfect in that it is a hidden gem. Great runs, which are long and well groomed. Lifts work great to move people. Often not crowded. Food on the slopes is good and parking is very easy. 1 lift ticket takes you on all the runs regardless of the mountain or side of the river they are on.

Families, snowboarders, skiers of each level, everybody finds what he needs in Silvretta nova. All ski resorts of the valley are reachable with the same ski pass and several resorts are connected to each other. In one week, you can ski each day at a different resort!
