Hiking and skiing are here to be done at its best, there are several but offering food drinks and sun terraces

Only lift from the base is a gondola. Chairlift is on the other side so need to take gondola to get to it. Nowhere to change your boots in the morning. When gondola breaks down, guess what - there is no other way to get up the hill. In high winds, the hill shuts down. If you bought a 2-day pass - too bad. Kasse is all shut down - noone is there. I went into the bar, the owners manage both, but they did not reimburse me for the lost day. Views are lovely though, and the one day I skied was gorgeous. And they have night skiing, and it is a great hill for kids and intermediate skiers, with a toboganning run, a baby hill across the road, and a lovely beginners run. Also great for socializing - lots of places to stop and enjoy sunbathing and a tipple or two.

very beautiful place - easy to access by foot or by cable car but I suggest to hike to the top of mountain

Possibility to take cable car, rent a bike and ride downhill. We used Monster rollers. Big fun for children and adults. Superbob was not working.

Skiing for one day is ok or night skiing but not enogh for more than one day. The coasting slide is really a challenge and much fun but be careful!

In case you arrive like I with train in Semmering you will have to go about 1,5km to reachthe lower part of the cable car leading to Hirschenkogel (price 14€ for round trip ticket). At the top is a wooden lookout tower called Milenium which gives you nice outlook over Semmering, Rax, Schneeberg.

Fantastic night skiing. A bit crowded at Friday and Saturday evening, but nice long slopes, with very good lighting conditions.

The advantage of this ski resort is that it is near Vienna. Otherwise it has little going for it - it gets very crowded at the weekends and the slopes are nothing special. however in summer it is wonderful. You can go up the cablecar and do a great 3-hour round-trip hike to the other summit which has a nice restaurant on top. And/or you can take a "monster-roller" (a sort of scooter with giant wheels) down the hill. This is a bit scary but a lot of people think it is great fun! .

Take the cable car, enjoy the views or do any sort of downhill sports. Not far from Vienna, Slovakia and Hungary, the mountain calls for sports enthusiasts at all seasons.

Hirschkogel, or Zauberberg is one of the most beutiful places in Semmering, Austria. I is equipped well for all the seasons: skies and tobbogans are available for all the day in winter, bikes of different kinds are for your pleasure in summer. There is very spectacular view openning from the top of Hirshkogel onto Schneeberg - the highest mountain of the district. Wonders of walking will find many of crosscountry rotes along mountains. The every turn on the road open the new attractive views. There are a lot of possibilities to take drinks and food at the Hirschkogel and in the villiage. I advice reccommend to enjoy the Zauberberg - one of the best places equipped for everything one wants.

It is only one hour by train from Vienna (with starting point in Wien Meidling) and next to the slope you can find everything you need. Rental for ski, boots, poles, protection helmets, shops for ski outfits, ski instructor that you can pay by the hour or for a longer duration. The restaurants are right next to the slopes so you do not have to walk a long way in the ski boots.

Pretty mountain...so nice that it is well used in the summer as well as winter.I rode the gondola everyday for a week and mainly walked the trails and photographed. The last day we rented monster rollers and they were hilarious. There is a great trail down with bridges and tunnels to explore on these oversized scooters. It was terrific fun...and you realize just how many muscles you have used the next day!!!

No lines for the lifts and definitely not crowded for a February weekend. The convenience to get to from Vienna (by train) and the affordability offset the not quite "powder" snow conditions. They also have night skiing available which I thought was very neat. At least two long downhill runs are open at night and are fully illuminated.

Very good resort, near Vienna. Direct acces from Highway. Good parking. All slopes are good prepared. Extra value - 3 slopes are prepared for the evening skiing every day . Excellent Rodelbahn.
