We took this optional tour when our Viking River Cruise ship docked here, and we were glad that we did. First, we heard a couple of informative talks by a woman at the winery, visited a room with an interactive map of the area on the floor, and had at least four samples of the various wines produced by Winzer Krems. We also watched a 4-D movie (the fourth dimension was odor). In the last sampling room, there were baskets containing different bread varieties. Naturally, we ended in the gift shop, but there was no high pressure to buy anything, and we didn't. All in all, it was a great tour.

This was the only shore excursion we took during our Viking Cruise - The Romantic Danube. It was a great choice. It was a private winery tour for our group of fifty through several rooms at Winzer Krems which produces their own wines and is a wine cooperative as well. Our winery hostess was warm with great humor. She was very knowledgeable about the Wachau Valley vineyards, the wine production process at their facility and the wines produced that we shared during our tasting. Enjoyed five great Austrian wines, two white, three reds, generously poured. The tour included a 4D movie explaining wine making from planting to serving. It was Disney-esque; pretty cool. The tour finished off in the wine shop.

We visited Winzer Krems with a large group. They couldn't have been friendlier or more gracious. The tour leader was funny, irreverent, and yet full of information about the winery business. The 6 wine tastings were not small so I'd advise not driving afterwards. Wonderful excursion!

Although the place at Winzer Krems was packed with people due to a world music festival, the Wein.Sinn manager took some time off and gave us a very special tour through Winzer Krems' history and what they do. You get an insight in what has to be done in vineyards, where the grapes ripen and where they are pressed. Extremely interesting and thrilling to get to know more!

A co-operative with about 1100 small vineyards participating, the largest in Austria. New modern facility and equipment that dazzles. And our host spoke perfect English with just the right amount of German accent; we loved it. Highly recommended; have done others and this was the best. Austrian wines are not well known where I come from, so who would have known that a Gruner Veltliner was there most popular (a white)?

Very nice tour of a winery and discussion about the wines in the Wachau valley and how the winery works. Very good intro to understanding how wine making process works from the grapes and soils and care to making the wine. Overall tour was very good. I was not as enamored of the wine from the region with the white and red wines from this area as we all know it is just a matter of taste, with others stating the best wine they have ever had. The prices for the wine was very reasonable, and even if you don't buy the wine, the tour and tasting are well worth it.

As mentioned this wine tour takes you on a trail to experience the region, the grapes, the art of making wine and tasting of very fine wines. Prices were really reasonable and we were able to enjoy our purchases as we continued sailing down the Danube.

Winzer Krems is the best place to learn about the wine. It takes you on an 8-stop trail to experience the noble juice of the wine and take a peek behind the scenes: Wine Growing, Wine Region, Wine Treasure, Wine Cellar, Wine 3DFilm, Wine Art, Wine Gallery, Wine Shop and of course wine tasting. This is the perfect place and definitely worth a visit!
