I liked the center of the village where there are 'kafenedes' coffee places on both sides of a cobbled street and huge vine trees making shade along the street! Nice! There are summer festivals there with wine themes and sweets.

Narrow streets, lovely little taverna in the main square, great spot to watch the locals ....watching over you as they sip their coffee. Again, the surrounding hills are a painter's delight. Superb Cypriot church and museum. My great grandma had a house here, hence I have a soft spot for Koilani.

After a great day driving through the mountains, starting out of Pafos, we ended up in Koilani. It was the prefect, most peacefull village ever. The old traditional village preserved in a beautifull way. We had dinner in a very small restaurant, husband and wife running the kitchen together.Excellent food at unbelievable prices. The name is Mezedes tis Marias. Great ending of a great day!

We took a tour with Discover Cyprus tours towards the Troodos mountains and Koilani was a pass by, it seem to be a quiet village with a small centre and a church. Some of the traditional houses have been refurbish and that was good to see, also there is a winery there but i cant remember the name, for sure it worths a visit.

Koilani is considered among one of the best preserved villages in Cyprus, as the people of this village are very proud of their birthplace and they have renovated their old family country houses.Koilani is re-known also for the excellent wine they produce there, and for this reason there are several local wines.I had the privilege of visiting one of them, Vlasides Winery, and I was highly impressed by their building, their equipment and of course their top quality wine. The owner is personally in charge of all tasks, from pruning the vine tress, to harvesting and of the entire wine making process. There is no doubt why his wines are so famous around the world and they have won in several wine competitions."Afamia" is the cutlural event or fete/celebration of the village and this takes place in the first Sunday in October. It coincides with the grape harvest and the processing of grapes into many products, including of wine.It is a must to visit Koilani for Cypriots and for tourists.

Visit the charming hillside village of Koilani for its delightful atmosphere, small square, typical coffee shops, local tavernas and old village houses. A great place to stop on the way up the mountains driving from Limassol. One of the big 'Krassohoria' (wine villages) of Cyprus Koilani welcomes visitors on wine tasting tours at its many wineries accross the village to sample its local wine as well as the 'grape based' delicacies such as palouze and shoushouko. Also recommended are it's local tavernas serving authentic Cypriot cuisine at reasonable prices. A 'must visit' village along the Cyprus wine route. A useful hint is to consult the annual event calendar for festivals and special occasions on the village to maximise your experience.

Koilani (sometimes spelled Kilani) is a wonderful village with beautiful charm, long history and culture. It is located around 36 kms from Limassol in the wine producing area of the Troodos mountains. The village on weekdays is tranquil and peaceful while on the weekends during spring and summer it seems that it is lively, filled with visiting Cypriots and very few tourists who mostly find the village through word of mouth. During our stay in May the village was full of life as many Cypriots with roots from the village returned to celebrate Greek Orthodox Easter there. On Easter Sunday the community council had arranged a number of traditional games and cultural performances in which many of the visitors participated, it was definitely fun for us to watch. There are other periods of the year when the village becomes very lively. An important period and event for Koilani is the unique Afamia wine festival that usually takes place during the first weekend of October. This event, organized by the Koilani community, celebrates the wine producing heritage of the village and the end of the harvest period. Wine tasting, traditional deserts made from grapes, folk dancing and other cultural performances are the order of the weekend. One of the things that we love about the village is that the many centuries old original architecture has been maintained to a very large extend. While the character of some villages in Cyprus seems to have been altered by modern housing, Koilani has largely preserved its charm. In the village you can find many narrow cobblestone streets, houses build from limestone with colorful courtyard entrance doors. Some of the houses external walls are painted in light sky blue color, a unique tradition of this village. There is a small number of restaurants in the village serving traditional Cyprus village food. We tried and recommend Mezedes tis Maria's which is in the same area as the rest of the traditional coffee shops and restaurants of the village.Koilani and the surrounding villages in the mountains of Troodos are definitely worth a visit.

Highly recommend visiting this beautiful traditional village. Beautiful houses, friendly people who can't do enough to make you feel at home. Not far from Limassol and its beaches, ideal destination for cooler climate in the hot summer. Nice traditional restaurants and wineries, everything is there to keep you happy!

Koilani is one of the most traditional and yet lively villages! It is among the premiere wine-producing villages of Cyprus. They hold plenty of events throughout the year and they feature some good taverns as well. The inhabitants are very friendly and welcoming.
