I've had a pleasure to visit this lake two times, during autumn and during summer. The place could use some more nice caffees, but as it goes for beer, selection is ok. The hotels are nice and affordable. Best thing to do when there is to visit some of the neighboring ''salaš'', and my recommendation is definitely Majčin salaš.

Only a short trip from Subotica, a Town is Serbia ( Vojvodina) situated 8 km from Hungarian Border Before the war in 1990, one could swim in the lake, but today the public is worn not to swim. For many years after the 1990 War , the lake and its beautiful architecture were detiriorating, but in the last 3 years it is being "saved" and restored to its natural beauty. There are bikes to be hired for the stroll along the lake, lovely coffee shops offering some of the finest views, restaurants with fine food and exellent service in some of the best location with lake views,The whole area is offering some of the nicest flora and fauna in the district. For the animal fans, there is also a zoo at Palic. Many small souvenir shops, and all with lovely service. Comparing it with some well established touristic places around the world, Lake Palic, feels like a breath of Fresh air, slowly growing , and offering its own unspoiled natural culture and service.

Palic is a town in Serbia, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Subotica and and 18 kilometres (11 mi) from the border between Serbia and Hungary. The town has a Hungarian ethnic majority and fantastic lake. There are over 450 guest houses, and even a five-star hotel. It is known for its European film festival which takes place every summer. The average depth of the lake is 2 metres (6 ft 7 in), and there are lots of fish in it.On a per kilometer there is a nice city,Subotica. It is a city with multiethnic population(Hungarians,Serbs,Croats and Bunjevci(which ate Roman Catholic).People are very kind and hospitable. The mixture of nationalities contributed to the great selection of food. The City Hall in Subotica was built between 1908 and 1912. The decorative features of Art Nouveau are enriched with a romantic nuance of the Hungarian folklore, by floral elements made of ceramics and wrought ironwork forging. And the moment you enter the city you will fall in love with the atmosphere. The magical buildings in the art nouveau style will create the fairy tale milieu for you events. All hotels and venues are located very close to each other, and offer all necessary infrastructures.I recommend a visit to the lake during the day and at night, because because the atmosphere is completely different. And Palic has a fantastic zoo.The Zoo spreads on 10 hectares. Its concept, beauty, arrangement and the treatment of animals rank this Zoo among the leading ones in this part of Europe. Here, visitors can enjoy observing 60 animal species, few hundred specimens of animals that are housed in cages or other facilities. It has a playground and a Petting Zoo. Visitors can rest in a café or on numerous benches. There's much more to see and experience, but you have to find out yourself...

Nothing to do except walk around but you cannot make a full circle around the lake. There is no path at a certain point.

Palic lake is an great place if you want to relax and recharge your batteries. We often go there for sailing/windsurfing. Their local sailing club is great with great people, everyone is so kind. I haven't visited the zoo but ppl say its an must see. Also if you travel across europe, this is a good place for sleep over.

We are always fishing near Marina Palić. We take a bench and fish. There are many fishes named Babuška (thats how we pronouse the name of the fish from Palić)

If you wouls like to go and relax without having to go to a resort of some kind, this is the place for you!! It is near the border if you decide to take a break on the way to the sea :) The scenery is out of this world, and it brings unexplanable calmness to whoever visits. We were there in July with the kids, but decided not to swim. The lake is from still water, and the water is greenish. If you decide to swim, there are a couple of nice areas that you can use. There are also a lot of restaurants all around the lake, but mostly have fish dishes on the menu. Some of them are with views of the lake, and some or tucked in the woods surroanding the lake. All in all, a wonderful place to visit!

When you live and work in a big and stressful city, a place like Palic lake seems extraordinary in its serenity and steady calmness. Subotica is lately one of my typical business visiting places and soon enough I discovered the neighbouring Palic lake and either stay in a lake hotel or spend my leasure time having lunch or dinner at the lake or trode on its walkways for as long as my time table allows. Nicely trimmed Municipal gardens, clean walkways, no cars near lake banks allowed, create a good feeling and smoothens sour taste within yourself. Next thing, you start forgetting anxieties and start "flying" higher in rosy clouds. Bicycles are available for you to rent and exercise with sightseeing around the lake perimeter. You can also mount a "double" bicycle with your wife or girlfriend and kiss away.. You can do the same on lake waters with a lake peddle boat. Nearly all buildings around the lake belong to the old times of the aristocracy of Austro-Hungarian empire. Typically heavy architecture with strong reddish colors. The lake water looks too green with algae and fauna, most probably too much fertilizer from farming land around steadily passes into it. Not so attractive for swimming, I would say. But swimming is the last thing that can cross your mind in this so lovely area. For your coffee time you can sit and rejoice in "Ladies Lido" cafe (nothing to eat, just coffee and juices but the scenery is magnificent -see the photos). For your lunch or dinner I recommend "Captain's Place" -a red wooden tavern with an extraordinary fish soup and grilled fish! The soup serving is a little bit complicated but very interesting: first you take a portion of a home-made lasagna style pasta mixed with a light soft cheese in your deep soup dish and then you pour above it the fish soup that is very inclusive with fish meat. The combination is paramount! The white wine they serve is a typical white of the lake area. The big plate of grilled vegetable collection is more delicious than grilled fish which follows-believe me! last but not least, for your last night's dinner do not miss to visit "Vinski Dvor" that is "the wine road" farm in Hadjukovo - Palic. The restaurant and winery are surrounded with acres of vineyards and magnificently conditioned green environment. The master and commander of the place will guide you down to the winery underground place where you may even wear the "King's Robe" and hat and taste a few dozens of wine types and liquors he produces. Red casks for aging of 5 tons of wine consist an honorable corridor for you to cross. The food is mainly meat of any kind and style. The grilled cat-fish I had was also one of the best river fish I ever had. When and if near Palic Lake, you now know where to spend your time and be satisfied at least in this Paradise place. Not crowded, I am afraid, but still this added to my nice feelings as our stressy lives call for intervals without too many human presence around. Only the lovely girls of Voivodina are allowed to be around in numbers...

I visited it in October. The swimming pools were already closed. But there were several Art Nouveau buildings, nice promenade around the lake. A ggod place for a walk with a family. A must see is the zoo - next to the lake.

This is a beautiful resort. There was a nice breeze coming off the water the day we were there. Good fish dinners at a reasonable price.

The lake is very pretty, especially around sunset. The restaurants around it are quite reasonably priced. The people we met were pretty helpful and almost everyone spoke very good English when we were asking for directions. Everyone seemed very eager to help.
