canakkale museum

We visited this museum on our way from Troy to Gallipoli. It contains a variety of artifacts from Troy and other local sites, including a lot of Byzantine sarcophagi in the courtyard.

There are some wonderful exhibits here, particularly the two carved sarcophogae, but the presentation is mediocre. Some things are labelled in English but not all. The garden exhibits have no labels at all. No shop, thus no postcards available. Excellent clean WCs and disabled access. More could be made of what they have to show.

we expected to see a richer exhibition in such an important area. but not.. air conditioner didnt work well also.
