I was drawn to the cathedral by its imposing looks; when inside I felt surrounded by tranquility. Good feel when you need that special moment

When travelling in Russia, one might note that there are far fewer churches in Siberia than there are in the European part of Russia. What accounts for this? Firstly, the primary concern of the newcomers who settled in Siberia was to physically survive in the harsh environment, so they thought more about building houses for themselves; secondly, church construction and decoration required special skill and implied great expense; and thirdly, the Tsar’s treasury cared more about Siberia’s primary resources, and the people inhabiting the region were just the instruments to get them.However, being aware of the folk wisdom which was used to excuse all mischievous deeds – God is too high and the Tsar is too far – the Crown donated some money for church construction in major Siberian cities for the purpose of keeping control of those who fled from the European part of Russia looking for a better life, or were sent into exile there. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was built in memory of Tsar Alexander III, who started construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway, so Tsar Nicholas II considered the building of this church to be very significant. It was the first stone structure in Novosibirsk, and its construction turned out to be the biggest project carried out by the Alexander III Fund, which was established especially for raising money for church construction in Siberia. The interior design of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, unlike that of many small Siberian village churches, which are decorated with cheap icons of the Siberian school of icon painting, is similar to the traditional pattern used in the European part of Russia. Many icons for this church were painted by Russian famous icon-painters.When the Communists came into power, they made an attempt to ruin the building, but to no avail – the structure was very strong, and for fear of damaging neighbouring buildings, they did not use large quantities of explosives.There were no services in the cathedral for over 50 years, during which time it was used as an office by Novosibirsk mass media companies and the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1989, the cathedral was given back to the Novosibirsk eparchy. By that time, the bell tower had been ruined, the interior had been changed (the church was turned into a two-story structure), and wall paintings and icons had been destroyed. Holland tiles, which were used to decorate the floor, had also been smashed.These days the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral welcomes its congregation on a regular basis. More and more people get christened and have their wedding ceremonies there. A shrine with relics of many saints is kept in the cathedral, as well as relics of Saint Alexander Nevsky.We are witnessing the recovery of religion in Russia these days - many new churches are being built in Novosibirsk and the Novosibirsk region.

The cathedral is an important historic landmark. It was one of the first stone buildings in town (the town was founded in 1893 and the cathedral construction started in 1897), then it was closed in Soviet times (in 1937) and reopened as a cathedral in 1989. So this a kind of buildings the local children learn about in school.But I wouldn't say it's a tier I attraction. There is nothing exceptional about it's architecture (it actually looks like a replica of Church of Our Lady the Merciful in St.Petersburg build a few years earlier), the interior was redecorated in the 1990s, so not much history there. It's ok to stop by but isn't worth a special visit in my opinion.

The first church built in town (which does not mean an old one, since Novosibirsk is a fairly modern city). One of the two main biggest churches still in use. Quite nice looking - deserves a visit if you've got an extra hour

В ценре Новосибирска, на пересечении Красного проспекта и ул. Советской аккуратно вписался Собор Александра Невского. Реальный храм, построенный в начале 20 века, не "новодел" скромный, сдержанный, но очень красивый. За время существования СССР что там только не располагалось. Последнее предназначение - склад Сибирской студии кинохроники. Сейчас передан провославной церкви - действующий храм.Мало кто знает, что собор Александра Невского занимает третье место по акустике среди православных храмов России. Посетите службу, послкшайте как звучит.

Очень понравился собор, попала на вечернюю службу. Выходя из собора обратила внимание на то, что телефон поймал там wifi

Маленький, уютный собор, расположен в самом центре города. Камерная осмос вера дает ощущение единения с богом

Очень интересная архитектура. Внутри светло и празднично. Красивые иконы, блогоговейная тишина. Можно побыть наидене со своими мыслями. Позитивно.

A 1ª igreja a ser construida em Novosibirsky. Ela não é muito antiga ( data do séc. xix ), porque inclusive a própria cidade não é tão antiga. Fiquei encantada com o contraste do marron escuro dos tijolos e as cúpulas douradas. Ela é muito linda !

заходишь в храм ,и понимаешь, что ты пришел в дом Бога и ты там свой. Служительницы не цыркают,за руки не дергают,голос не повышают, да и ообще атмосфера такая ,что чувствуешь-с нами-Бог!

Ожидала большего, когда направлялась к нему. Кирпичное здание - новодел не вызывает никакого трепетного чувства, что ты в соборе, внутри очень тесно и неуютно. Возле собора полно алкашей и бомжей, которые просят милостыню.

Второй год в Новосибирк ездим всей семьей на выходные (заодно чтобы сдать документы на визу), в этом году на День Св.Петра и Павла посетили Храм Александра Невского (оказалось - рядом с нашим отелем на Красном Проспекте)! Храм Александра Невского очень впечатляет своим величием! А внутри очень уютно и просторно (были в праздник, в субботний день), можно спокойно подойти поклонится и приложится к иконам, поставить свечи, заказать записки.

В пешей доступности из отеля до Собора 5 минут, ходил с утра, красивое пение и сам по себе очень внушительный красивый просто сказка, лучше один раз увидеть описать невозможно ....

Новосибирск - город молодой по меркам истории. И не так много исторических зданий в нем. Через два года после возникновения города, в 1895г., жители начали сбор пожертвований на строительство храма. Собор был построен уже к 1899г. К сожалению, имя архитектора точно неизвестно, но архитектура собра повторяет храм Божией Матери в Петербурге. Здание собора очень гармонично выстроено в византийском стиле. Когда-то оно одно возвышалось среди леса, но и теперь это сооружение - украшение города. С 1937 года храм отобрали у церкви и даже хотели взорвать, почти весь советский период в здании располагалась студия кинохроники. Во время перестройки несколько лет не могли решить, вернуть ли храм церкви или устроить в нем филармонию. Теперь мы можем не только любоваться прекрасным зданием, но и прислушаться к своей душе у алтаря.
