the nicely restored medieval castle was one of the best of many terrific things I saw & did in k-p; I was scouting for a movie set (the movie didn't make it into active production, but this castle has rooted itself firmly in my imagination). don't stop with the castle, though: the cliff climbing in the gorge is great, the environment in the gorge just so beautiful & quiet. if you're able, find a local person familiar with the local cave systems and go underground-- I had a very helpful cabbie who took me to a cave under an old farm that felt like some place out of Arthurian myth! good food is everywhere; I picked for ambience: dining at pid bramayu on the terrace overlooking the castle was magical. the nicest place to stay in town is (I think) hetman-- an old-world b&b soaked in atmosphere. for more details, see the link to my travel blog below...

Quick one day visit to castle. It is such a beautiful backdrop and location along the river. I would recommend 3 days in the region to also stop by the stronghold in Hotin, Ukraine about 30 minutes away.

Passed near Kamenetz-Podolsk and drove to the fortress. This majestic fortress which captures your view from afar. Area is large and well appointed. There is a museum and cafe.

I've been there for couple of times with my friends it is better to come there on spring or summer time. This place has powerful history and very exciting look. I was glad to know there available english speaking guide but because of this tickets cost increase twice.

Impressive due to location and historical relevance.Inside some tourist attractions, it's an old castle not a palace.

I agree with previous rewievs: outside it looks better, especially beautiful in the sunset. Inside I expected more. As for facilities like toilet and cafee - they look very "soviet" and both are not good. I recommend to avoid them. Nice illumination in the evening, but we had to wait until full darkness for it to be switched. I reccomend to visit Khotynsky castle, which is about 30 km from the town. It's totally different - massive and imposive. However, it's not easy to get there: no public transportation, so you should take a taxi or rent a car/bike.

We've been in the Fortress in May, it's really great view. Although inside there are only some historical places left. There are few souvenir shops, cafe, shooting range. Can not say that I was impressed by this visit.

Suppose, Kamianets-Podilskyi Fortress is the best in Europe I have ever seen! (I have seen dozens of them in different countries of Central and Eastern Europe). It came from 14 century, and looks amazing, huge and old, built in beautiful river Smotrych canyon. Kamianets-Podilskyi city worth a lot to visit too. It is full of architecture, history and nature. Some other wonderful places are close enough to visit in one tour - Khotyn fortress and Bakota Bay - unique natural preserve, filling you with great positive energy.

The first stop should be at the Turkish Bridge both in the morning when the fortress stands out in the sun and at night when it is illuminated by lights. There is a lookout area here which was popular with wedding groups having their photos taken and looking to your right are the spires of one of the Greek Orthodox churches. The castle dates back to the early 14 th C though there were buildings there earlier. It is situated on top of a narrow neck of land with the river forming a barrier on the other sides. We arrived there early when it opened and it was quite deserted. It looks very commanding and sections of it are being restored and there are several small museums in some of the towers dealing with weapons and showing some of the torture implements they would have used. Some of the signs are in English though possibly a tour guide could have given more background. The towers are connected by passages inside the castle walls. Some of the stairs are a little steep and there is still a lot of restoration work to be done but when/ if it is finished it would be an outstanding castle/museum to visit.

The fortress is located on the rock surrounded by Smotrych river. It is an example of perfect use of natural relief. It is worth to see Las Vegas like castle illumination during night. Luckily daylight is much more favourable.Beware of guys with eagles - negotiate the price before taking photos.

There are several building . Our guide explained them to us . There were several fascinating display, like the one of medieval devices of defending the castle . There were vendors in the castle . Their prices were high. The stairs to some display were very treacherous . And they could do with more lighting on the exhibits.

At night it is illuminated like a true Disney cartoon, so photos turn out fabulous. The building itself looks more like a fortress, not a castle. There’s not much to see insight (just walls), but it preserved well enough and it is impressive beyond doubt. Catering insight is moderate, I would recommend not to snack there and have a meal somewhere in the city center. In tote - very good.

A wonderful view on the castle, it is especially interesting to listen to the stories with a good tour guide. Historical festivals help to travel back into the past!

Romantic and spectacular place with lots of exiting views around. The castle is located in a pretty rural town and has a long and interesting history. Inside the castle you can shoot a crossbow and archery, you can visit the torture chamber and other museum's rooms. Also you can try traditional porridge, cooked in a huge cauldron. This is a good place to visit for a day or two, but if you have a third day - you can visit another amazing castle, or rather the fortress nearby - the Hotyn, which is very beautifuly situated on a steep bank of the Dniester river. The town Kamenets Podolsky is located in 400 km from Kiev and you can get there by train.

So beautiful, it seems like a guy on a horse should come and get his maiden. Tales of caution old castles are not made for the plus size western world, or people. The coble stone is so steep in places it more than a 45 degree angle and some are very slick from century's of wear. In the main tower there are steps that go straight down vertically. and are not made for a plus size body. I didn't go down them so missed part of the tour. I would have gotten stuck. I wish we stayed in the city more than one night so we could have explored more. There are bathrooms but they are squatters.
