Thank you for reviewing Roskilde Cathedral. We are currently looking into translating the danish text in the Cathedral Museum.

The Roskilde Cathedral is an amazing building from about 1100. The last viking king, Harald Bluetooth, is said to be burried there. Since then, all member of royal family - mainly kings, queens, princess and prince - have been burried there. The construction is big and can be seen far from the fiorde. Worth a visit!

Our family visited the Roskilde Cathedral in late December and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Cathedral holds a the burial remains of the most of the Danish monarchs for the past 600 years and each of the side chapels which is dedicated to a family group has the most amazing decorations and paintings that it is almost impossible not to be left in awe. The location of the cathedral on top of the hill allows you to obtain a great view over the Roskilde Fjord as well as the beautiful homes and buildings located nearby.I would rate this Cathedral as one of the most impressive I have seen and it is certainly worth a visit. A suggestion worth considering if you are staying in Copenhagen and would like to visit the Cathedral is combine a visit here with a visit to the Viking Ship museum which located at the bottom of the hill on edge of the fjord.

Placed in absolutely city-centre along main square and with breath-taking view over the fjord, this spectacular cathedral is towering the city and can be seen from mile. Inside a respectful silence rules. Despite of many spectators the feeling inside the cathedral never gets cramped. Fascinating tombs of ancient kings, queens, nobility etc. can be seen. Even possible to come real close. Don't miss this opportunity!

This church is amazing and wanderful. I have been there in 2009 and I took some unforgettable photos. If you are going to Denmark you can go there to visit, it is lovely!

Roskilde Domkirke is the oldest gothic building in Denmark and houses a huge collection of Royal Danish tombs in chapels, the most impressive being that of King Christian IV. Over near the entrance to the cathedral is a medieval clock that strikes on the hour where St Jorgens runs out on his horse to slay a dragon and upstairs houses the cathedral museum which chronicles its 1000 year history. Entry fee is reasonable and we received a great little book on the cathedral which was very informative. Well worth a visit and Roskilde city centre is a short stroll from the cathedral.

This is a UNESCO World Heritage site and with good reason. It was built in the 12th century and is a very early example of red brick architecture. It's also the final resting place of Denmark's royals, going as far back as the 13th century. A must visit if you're in Roskilde.

Roskilde is only half an hour by train from Copenhagen Central station. The Cathedral is another 5 minutes walk and is included on the Copenhagen card for free. It is truly beautiful inside, with numerous side chapels containing elaborate tombs of Danish royals. The cathedral is beautifully presented, with everything easy to follow thanks to the keepsake booklet included in the entry. ' a photographers delight'!

We caught the train out to Roskilde, about an hour away. It was a 10 minute walk to the cathedral through the town, past a town square to the church. This is the burial place of most of the kings and queens of Denmark for the last 1000 years or so. It is fascinating to see the tombs and monuments, although the church itself is quite plain both inside and out. Highly recommended.
