Beautifully maintained, and clearly explained this historical House where argentine Independence borned in 1816, justified a visit.

Fascinating place where history was made at the beginning of Argentina's independence and the Argentinian President still comes on 9th July each year when Tucuman is the capital rather than Buenos Aries. But to understand everything (if you don't speak fluent Spanish) as for an official guide who speaks English. No extra cost and a greatly enriched experience.

Loved this little town. However the only reason people come here is for the Tucuman House (also a museum). Its significance? Argentina's independence was issued on 9 July 1816.It is definitely worth a visit because it allows you to learn a little bit of Argentina's history. You can also dress up in a period costume and have your photo taken.

Really need to step up with the international demand. The place does not have much except for the architecture. Signs are only in Spanish and if you do not know the history it is meaningless.

What I really liked was the historical side of the city. The house itself is superb and well maintained. The exhibits were really good and well presented. There is one room where the Declaration of Independence was signed, but alas no document on show, not even a good photocopy. Another thing which was annoying is that there is no photography. Still it was well worth the visit.

It's the birthplace of Argentina, so the visit gets on the emotional/patriotic side. The museum is very interesting and the guides/actors explain everything.

No trip to Tucuman would be complete without a visit to the Casa Historica. An English language tour is available on request at no cost. It is an excellent opportunity to learn about the early 19th century Independence movement in Argentina and South America. In order to avoid any problems, the visitor would be wise not to accept the offers of young men outside of the Casa Historica to take your photo with your camera.

The Casa de Tucumán (meaning "House of Tucumán" in Spanish, officially Casa Histórica de la Independencia) is a historic building and museum located in San Miguel de Tucumán built during the colonial times. The Congress of Tucumán worked in this house during the Argentine War of Independence, and issued the Argentine Declaration of Independence on July 9, 1816. It was nationalized decades later, and partially demolished for its poor condition. It was declared a National Historic Monument of Argentina in 1941, and reconstructed, with simplified details, It is open to the public from 10am to 6pm except for Xmas, Independence Day (july 9) and year end.

It was nice to see this beautiful historic building. It is an important signal of independence for the argentine people and is kept very clean and maintained.

It was nice learning about this historical home from my Argentine friends. They have fond memories of growing up and learning to draw this important home during school every anniversary of their independence and their first in person visit.

If you want to understand how Argentina won its independence then this is the place to go. It does not take long to walk through and we asked if they had a guide who could speak english and the guy at the desk called for one. (you may need to know how to ask for an english speaking guide in spanish!) The guide was very good and made the whole trip that much easier to understand when everything is written in spanish. This building is on the route for the historic walk through Tucuman city - look for the maps and the signs. The catedral ingles (cathedral) is also worth seeing.

If you are not Argentinian, you might not get the importance of this site, but still, if you go to Tucumán, you cannot miss it, it will only take a couple of hours and it's a nice visit. The museum is small and not too entertaining if you are not a history fan, but it's still interesting. The gardens are pretty and there was a string quartet playing when I was there.
