Marcelo is a fantastic guide and the sceneries were beautiful. I couldn't explain the awesomeness, you just have to see it for yourself!

Marcello took myself and my girlfriend riding beneath the Milky Way. We were both beginner riders and he had no issue getting us up and going in 15 minutes. Within 30 minutes we were galloping. He knows his constellations well and can tell you many interesting things about bird watching and the local bird life. His English is quite good even though he says it is not. This was a life-changing experience for the two of us and at roughly $37USD p/p it is an absolute bargain. We hope to do another of Marcello's horseback tours on the way home. If you ever find yourself near the Elqui Valley or in La Serena, Chile you owe it to yourself to try any of these tours!

For people who really love horses and nature, this is a not to miss experience. Marcelo guided me for 3 hours through vineyards, hills and cactusses, showing me breath taking sights. No noise, only the sound of birds. I already booked my next visit!

I'm staying in La Serena for the next couple of months and I wanted to explore the valley. Marcelo is an excellent guide and his English is very good! I'm an experienced rider and I found the horses to be well-behaved and well cared for. The views of the valley were spectacular and the overall experience was incredibly fun and informative. If you're staying in La Serena or nearby, I highly recommend this tour!

In the middle of our trip to South America, I decided that Mundo Caballo is where I want to propose to my long term girl friend. I emailed Marcelo and asked more details to see if I could have this opportunity, and he kindly ensured me that he would give me the chance to do so at one of the high peaks. In general, it was an amazing hands on experience. Neither one of us had any experience with horses, and this was a great first experience that encouraged us to get more involved in the future. The fact that half of the journey is in day light, and the rest in night was also amazing. The Elqui valley has great scenaries to offer, and this intimate ride with horses is a truly perfect oppurtunity to experience the local area.Thank you Marcelo, we will never forget your kindness.

I did the Cosmic Connection tour and it was a fantastic experience as we got to ride Chilean horses under the famously clear and star-filled Chilean night sky in a stunning setting with a friendly, dedicated and local guide. This is very much a family-run operation and that's great because it feels very down-to-earth and personal. Marcelo was our guide and though his English is not perfect it was good enough to convey to us the relationship between us and the horse, some basic concepts of riding and before I knew it I, who has never ridden, was galloping through the Chilean backcountry...an incredible feeling! The tour logistics were great as well. Pick up right on schedule, stowed our big luggage securely, one night camping gear and food was all provided except for sleeping bags. The planning and communication leading up to my trip was smooth.Marcelo was also taking pictures the whole time and promptly emailed us some fantastic shots I couldn't have gotten otherwise. One note: if you've never ridden a horse, you probably will be sore(bum and back)! So set your expectations accordingly.

We took a three week vacation and this tour was one of our kid's highlights. Mundo Caballo shuttled us to a ranch in a very comfortable mini-bus. As a party of 10 with kids of various ages, tours can be challenging. Our tour guide, Marcelo, was patient with our kids and a gentleman throughout the tour. I'm sure I am not alone feeling trepid about sending an advance cash deposit to someone I didn't know in a foreign land. Don't let that concern you with these guys. This is a multi-generation family business that operates with the utmost integrity. We toured the Equi Valley and the only thing that exceeded its beauty was the service delivered by Marcelo and Mundo Caballo. Thanks to Marcelo and his team from Mundo Caballo for providing such a memorable and exciting day.

We (family of 4, 2 adult kids) had a wonderful experience with Mundo Caballo. Marcelo is an excellent guide, speaks his English well, is very observant towards the riders as well as the surrounding flora, fauna and scenery. While riding Marcelo gives a lot of background information. He gave us individual riding education, with a personal touch. Focussing on improvement for everyone. The horses are well kept. Equipment is good.We were sad our schedule didn't give us the opportunity to go for the night ride. But we will be back!Thank you, Marcelo!

This was my top experience in La Serena. Marcelo at Mundo Caballa was a charming, knowlegable and engaging guide who shared not only his knowledge of horsemanship but also of conservation and astronomy. To be on a horse, trotting up steep mountain tracks, galloping on the flat, stopping to gaze at magical sunset views over the valley and trusting in the horses fine night vision on the way back home was an exhilarating experience. Highly recommend.

My wife and I went on a sunset ride with Marcelo and loved it. Marcelo was quite patient and gave us a good intro to riding Chilean style. He speaks good English. The scenery in the Elqui valley is beautiful and with a stunning sunset we were spoilt. The ride back under the clear skies gave us a breathtaking view of the stars. The whole ride was 3 hours, so not surprisingly we were a little sore the next day, but well worth it.

As a solo traveler, I spent two months in Chile and some of my favorite experiences were the horse riding trips through the Elqui Valley that I took at Mundo Caballo. I had the good fortune of being truly immersed in the experience of not only enjoying the landscapes but also in the warmth of the family run farm. I actually was staying on the farm for part of my trip as Mariangel runs an excellent bed and breakfast out of her beautiful home (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/567384) So I got a chance to really see how the farm operates and know the deep level of care that the family has for people, the horses, and the surrounding environment. While I have always loved horses, my riding experience was limited in scope. That was no problem at all, and in fact was a good measure of just how capable Mundo Caballo is at assessing your level of experience and then helping you to improve. Marcelo was my main guide and teacher, and every excursion was filled with the perfect mix of information about the surrounding landscape and culture, time for quietly taking in the breathtaking scenery and through Marcelo's gentle guidance, improving my riding techniques. As I mentioned, my previous riding experience was based mostly on get on the horse, let it lead. (And for any novice riders, the horses here are all very well trained, safe and perfect for those who have never been on a horse. Some of the horses are used in the horse therapy sessions they provide to children with autism, so you can be assured they are safe!) I wanted to learn more though and can truly say that if you had told me that after 3 lessons with Marcelo I'd be testing out my galloping, I'd probably have laughed. But that is exactly what happened. Each excursion Marcelo made sure to reinforce the basics, keeping your legs/feet in the right position, how to hold your body and the reigns etc. After getting more comfortable with walking and controlling the horse, we tried out trotting. Marcelo was always sure to ride alongside my horse and continually urged me on with instruction. It was amazing to feel the surge of confidence that came from these lessons. I could feel myself improving each time and there may be no better feeling than realizing your on a galloping horse and knowing that your in control. I highly highly recommend Mundo Caballo for all types of travelers and excursions. Anyone vacationing who just wants a peaceful afternoon in the Valley can find stunning landscapes, warm people and even an art gallery that features local artists works and goods for sale (such as amazing honey from a neighboring beekeeper) here at Mundo Caballo. They also offer night rides, where you trek up the mountain for a great view of the sunset and then watch the night sky open up into an incredible display of stars. Or if your spending an extended period of time in the area and want to learn how to ride, Marcelo is an excellent teacher and guide!

Best thing I did in the Elqui Valley was the Entre Valles ride - beautiful views of the autumn-hued vineyards nestled among the strikingly green, cactus covered hills. Gives a different perspective to what you see from the valley floor. Interesting to learn about some of the plants and animals that inhabit this unique environment. Marcelo is a great guide and took lots of photos to share.

My wife and I try to take a horseback ride or two on each vacation we take. We were on a cruise this time and we wanted to get away from it all (mainly from the 2000 other cruisers). The Mundo Caballo experience was the perfect fit! Marcelo's sister picked us up from the cruise port. After about a half hour drive we were at the horse ranch in the Elqui Valley. Marcelo fitted us on the horses and away we went, first a little foggy, but then the sun came through bright. We rode through the valley of vineyards and the surrounding hillsides. Marcelo was very friendly and his English was very good. We and he took pictures and he even sent us a few pictures when we got home. The ride as I said was perfect and about two hours long. Marcelo drove us back to the cruise port. He did offer to drop us in town instead but we decided our time was too short for a town visit. We would highly recommend this tour with Marcelo, especially if you are on a cruise and want a personal day out on your own with nature and not hundreds of others. The charge was very reasonable at $65 each which included the roundtrip transportation to and from the cruise port.
