Personally we preferred Canyon Itaimbezinho but Fortaliza is also a worthwhile trip. In the last three years a bit more than half the road has been paved so the trip is easier than in the past. Unless it has been very rainy you can make the drive in any two wheel drive vehicle. As with all the canyons the earlier you go the better your chances of clear viewing as the clouds often do move in. You may want to hire a guide for this canyon as it is rather spread out and one could get lost. There is considerably more hiking here.

Really nice trekkings to perform in the canyons (Itaimbezinho & Fortaleza). During summer, the water level in the canyons is higher, which prevent agencies to do some trekkings (rio do boi for ex). The views can also be very badly impacted by the humidity clouds in the canyon (we have not seen a lot from Fortaleza). Best period to enjoy is from April.

Cannyon da Fortaleza, at the Parque Nacional dos Aparados da Serra, along with his brother Cannyon do Itaimbezinho are some if the greatest nature artwork. Not very near to small Cambará town, and seems more far due to the terrible road to access. However, in the past 20 years, I've been visiting the place several times.Driv e with patience, have a good chat with your friends orfamily on the way, enjoy the high grasses and you'll arrive to and amazing place.Really worth the torture of the trip

A place where we can admire the power of nature and the splendor of the canyons. It is a quiet place where you can take beautiful photos. It was very cold, but we enjoyed a lot.

A must see! Extremely beautiful, peaceful natural place... I went during summer (December) so it was hot! I want to go back during winter. Bring water. No bathroom or food facilities, which I think is great because it avoids trash. Not easy to reach with normal car. We hired a guide with a truck and it was a great idea as we were driving much faster.

This is a truly stunningly beautiful natural area to do sightseeing. It is far away from urbanised areas so that adds to the peaceful atmosphere.

Really nice place.. The road to the park has a lot of rocks/gravel but it is worth going. To walk in the border of a cliff that is 700 meters high, see the waterfalls going all the way down from the top and having a more than 100K clear view is something that you can do only a few times.. Do not forget to take your own water and lunch because there is no infrastucture at all in the park.. Also do not forget sunscreen and hat..Also do a stretch and visit the "Tigre Preto" waterfall you will have spetacular views..

A must see for anyone coming to Porto Alegre or Florianopolis - Fortaleza and Itaimbezinho are the two best-known of over 20 canyons belonging to the same geologic range. Located over 1000m high, they are located about 30km from the ocean. Very nice combination of deep green of highland grass, trees and the gray of stone cliffs. The outdoor adventurous will find several trails to explore. And if you are lucky will be able to see snow.

after climbing up on an easy trail you reach this place, and there you can stay sitting close to the abyss, thinking about life and feeding yourself of all the energy of the nature around it.

This is such a stunning place! My husband and I contemplated catching a taxi to the park but instead we went with a company called Canion Turismo which has an agency in Cambara Do Sul. Even though we thought it to be a bit pricey, it was totally worth it! It included transport and a fantastic guide who was extremely knowledgeable and spoke English! The park itself is amazing with gorgeous views of the canyons and the waterfalls, both of which you can go right to the edge of! Despite a bit of rain (the fog came and went but we still got great visibility) we had a fantastic day

We were lucky enough to get a great day to visit and we had an awesome visibility of the whole Canyon!

We drove about 3 hours to see this - it was well worth it. It rained on us for about 20 minutes - but we still enjoyed our stay.

The best Canion to go in the region!!The view is outstanding, made me feel so small...It's a shame the infrastructure around is very poor. There is no place to buy bevereages and food you should go prepared if you are planning to spend some hours there.Worth the visit!!!

The landscape is breath taking... They are worth the last bumpy kilometers to get there. But you have to be lucky with the weather to get the best views!

One of the most beautiful places in Brazil. It is terrific. Te view from up there is marvelous. You can see the ocean and the plateau from there. This canyon is unique, simply beautiful.
