There aren't too many places of interest in Ciudad Bolivar and this small plaza is probably near the top of the list. Attractive cathedral and government buildings, and a few trees. Added bonus of free wifi!

When you got to Plaza Bolivar make sure you visit Casa de Angostura and ask for Diego Stanley. He's a University student who is in love with history and he will explain everything about Venezuela and South America. It's a very good start to a South American journey.

It was founded with the name Angostura in 1764, renamed in 1846, Angostura´s bitter was created there, but the manufacturer moved to Trinidad and Tobago. Ciudad Bolívar's historic center is well preserved, with original rebuild colonial buildings around the Plaza Bolívar. It lies at the Orinoco River, and there was build the firts bridge over Orinoco in 1967 (now is a second one in Puerto Ordaz). Ciudad Bolivar, at the time was called "Angostura", was the capital of "Gran Colombia" in 1819, This short-lived republic included the territories of present-day Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, northern Peru and northwest Brazil.There´s a very interesting city tour guided by an very friendly French woman called Claudine, who speaks Spanish, English and French, and she know all about the history of the city, you can also take a boat trip on Orinoco, and a Canaima / Angel fall tour from its airport

Plaza Bolivar in Ciudad Bolivar is small quiet place in the heart of old Ciudad Bolivar. It has lovely surroundings and nice statues. In the middle, the great Bolivar overlooks the plaza, with ladies representing each state he freed during the independence war in the "corners" of the plaza. The place is nice and clean and almost empty. It´s nice to chill around, relax and enjoy the sleepy atmosphere of the plaza. We took it easy and took our time there - so we easily spent about 20-30 minutes wandering around, making photos and resting.

Aunque los alrededores de la ciudad no son lindos, el centro histórico es bellísimo. Tanto de día como de noche, porque está muy bien iluminado! Vale la pena recorrerlo y llegar hasta el malecón.

Es la primera Plaza Bolívar de Venezuela y alrededor de ella están las edificaciones y museos coloniales más importantes de la ciudad

Очень понравилась площадь. В церкви проходила свадьба и было красиво. Интересный дом конгресса. Но было очень жарко на улице так что по старым улочкам проехались на машине. Веселые разноцветные дома.

La città, soprattutto il centro storico(casco historico) mi hanno impressionato. Stride il contrasto tra i colori e l'architettura e l'aria tesa. Con il calare del sole, il centro storico diventa "the day after", impossibile trovare qualcosa di aperto e qualcuno per la strada.La posada del centro, consigliata dalla guida, era piena, quindi, portato da un tassista, ho trovato un motel appena fuori dal centro....evito di dare un giudizio.Ho fatto 4 passi per mangiare qualcosa e sono andato da Mc Donald, non per scelta, ma perchè a quell'ora non c'era altro.All'uscita da Mc più di un venezuelano si è offerto(e lo ha fatto) di accompagnarmi, perchè andare a piedi a quell'ora(21.00 circa)era troppo pericoloso.Mi spiace, ma la ritengo utile solo se volete andare al Salto Angel.

Bem no centro da cidade, a estátua de BOLÍVAR impressiona. Ao redor árvores com sombra e bancos de concreto para sentar, com pinturas do MONTE RORAIMA, atração principal do local.

En la plaza Bolívar de Ciudad Bolívar puedes pasar un momento agradable con amigos, familia y hasta solo, ya que es un sitio para conocer un poco mas la historia de Venezuela

Город интересен сам по себе, а не только как отправная точка в Канайму. Исторический центр на берегу реки с красивыми яркими домиками. Есть где погулять, что посмотреть. Надо поробовать национальное блюдо - кукурузную лепешку с наполнителями. Центральная площадь очень уютная и тенистая- можно укрыться от жары или в кафе на набережной выпить пива. Можно покататься на лодке, но на другом берегу и вдоль берега смотреть особо нечего. Рекомендую выделить на осмотр города 1 день

Yo vivo en Ciudad Bolívar, en el Casco Histórico de la ciudad, es el sitio perfecto para conocer de la historia de la Ciudad, de como nace Venezuela y las implicaciones en la creación de la Gran Colombia. Cuenta con diferentes puntos de interés históricos. La Plaza Bolívar de Ciudad Bolívar, única en su clase en toda Venezuela, es particularmente hermosa y con mucho simbolismo, a la sombra de la Catedral de la ciudad se pasa un buen rato durante el día y al final de la tarde hace una fresca brisa. Cuenta con relativa seguridad, puesto que en sus alrededores se encuentran oficinas públicas resguardadas por elementos de la seguridad pública. Cabe destacar, que en una de las paredes de la Catedral, se encuentra una placa en memoria del héroe de la independencia Manuel Piar, justo en el sitio de su fusilamiento y adyacente a la plaza se ubica la casa prisión de Piar, que al igual que el Congreso de Angostura, son sitios obligados de visita. El Congreso de Angostura cierra sus puertas los días lunes

Es particularmente hermoso visitarlo en las tardes, cercano al ocaso. Los colores que toma el cielo contrastan perfectamente con los colores vivos de las viejas casas, sus calles y muros de piedra. No existen muchas opciones gastronómicas en la zona y tampoco es recomendado para la visita nocturna, pues queda muy solo, pero a las 5 de la tarde es una hora idea para tomar alguna bebida refrescante y sacar bellas fotos hacia el río.
