Beautiful and relaxed town over the mountains. You can get various ethnic sweets and art from here. Wear confy shoes, as you will be walking a lot.

It is always great to go to Galipan to eat pernil sandwiches, strawberries with cream and experience the city from above!

It is a quaint village converted to tourist attraction. The main point are beautiful vistas and numerous small shops with all kinds of sweets, juices, fresh fruit with whipping cream etc. and nice restaurants. You get there from top of Teleferico either by foot, not recommended if you are not in excellent shape, or by locals driving 4X4s. The other way is a fairly long ride from Caracas proper. Place not very clean, lots of garbage around. Locals rent horses but the best way is to walk around. The area that most visitors go to is not very large, basically one street.

There are a couple of restaurants inside thr mountain that are certainly worth a visit.... The temperature and scene are great... Try going before dark so you can fully enjoy.

This area located in El Avila is a wonderful place with amazing restaurants, amazing food... and the most important warm and nice people

It's a pretty little mountain town, but there is not much to do save horseback riding and strolling around. It does have a nice ambience, though.

Nature is the only well written script here. Some dubious restaurants located up in the mountain organised a jeep tour up providing you will spent in there venues( avoid over rated Gallipanier or Granja Natalia) A 4 wheel car is essential to go up there unless good physical conditions are present . Another alternative is taking the cable car ( teleferico) followed by a 30 min walk down. Pork sandwiches ( pernil) are a must!

Pros: nice views, weather and adventure to get there. Cons: you get stuck with the place/restaurant/hostal you go to because it is hard to move from one place to the other without a car. We went with kids so walking was not really an option. The center of "town" is like a little market, dirty, messy and not secure. We were afraid of the visitors because we heard people get smudged even by those who seem tourists. The "teliferico" view was awesome.

Este es uno de mis lugares favoritos en Caracas, un pueblito en el cerro El Ávila que se las trae, los mejores sandiwch de pernil que vas a encontrar cerca, fresa con crema, vino de mora artesanal, suspiros, flores espectaculares y todo en un clima de montaña muy agradable.Si tienen el tiempo vale la pena subir con tu camioneta 4x4 (caja reductora obligatorio) o simplemente agarrar uno de las tantos carros que suben para pasar una mañana o una tarde diferente lejos del bullicio de Caracas.____This is one of my favorite places to be in Caracas,a little town in the mountain El Ávila that has its thing, the best pulled pork sandwich you´re ever going to eat, strawberries and cream, homemade berries wine, pastries and all in a mountain like weather that is perfect.If you have the time to go, please visit Galipan with you 4x4 truck (low gear is a must) or simply get on to one of the many trucks that offer rides to Galipan to spend a different morning or afternoon.

I absolutely love Galipan, it has a little bit of everything and a lot of character and personality, the charm of their residents is captivating and the food is delicious, a little gem worth the visit!

Uno de los pocos lugares cercanos a Caracas, alejados del ruido y el agitado ritmo de la ciudad al que puedes escapar un fin de semana, relax total...

Fui con mi familia y bajamos desde el Waraira Repano. El precio por los jeeps que bajan a Galipán es accesible y hacen el viaje más corto y cómodo, pero si lo desea puede bajar a pie y hacer un poco de ejercicio. Ya en Galipán pude observar muchos negocios de comida pero que no ofrecen mayor variedad, no comprendo porque los dueños de restaurantes y otros sitios de comida creen que cuando se está a unos cuantos pies de altura lo único que se puede comer es cachapas, parrillas, sopas y cochino frito y como postre los dulces típicos del junquito, colonia Tovar el jarillo etc etc, es decir fresas con crema, suspiros y galletas con chocolate caliente. Desde el Restaurante más elegante hasta el de peor pinta ofrecen exactamente lo mismo, cual cliché… he escuchado de restaurantes que ofrecen otro tipo de comidas pero por lo menos los aproximadamente 30 que vi y se encuentran en el área que uno puede caminar ofrecen LO MISMO. El lugar ofrece unas hermosas vistas al edo. Vargas, particularmente de Macuto y el ambiente es cómodo y fresco, no frio, hay caballos para quien desee montarlos, hay pocas posadas en la vía transitable de las cuales se ven algunas bonitas y otras no, dicen que hay más, que se encuentran más escondidas. Hace falta áreas verdes de esparcimiento, alguna plaza donde sentarse y algún tipo de recreación tipo parque para niños. Realmente la falla la tienen los pobladores ya que no muestran mucha creatividad en ningún aspecto. Pero para pasar un rato ya estando en el Ávila no está del todo mal.

la neblina hace del clima muy acogedor con su frio caracteristico, el pueblo es solo una calle pero cuenta con buenos restaurantes y sitios de venta de artesania, no pueden faltar las fresas con crema
