The entire area is quite nice, from the Chocolatera to La Loberia. Great walking trails and a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. All for free as well. A great addition to Salinas.

This was a very quiet part of Salinas and the sea lions were super cool to photograph and see. Bring binoculars or a telescopic camera lens; 200mm+

Off the beaten path, but easy to get to. When the tide is out the beach is very nice. We even uncovered several areas with live Sand Dollars, which we left. Little crabs were having a field day.

This beach is a great combination of seal watching, tide pools and swimming but it has no services, including bathrooms, that would make the experience more pleasant. One of the reasons I like this beach is because there are NO street vendors peddling their wares. I can relax and enjoy the beach, especially at low tide. For max enjoyment the beach goer needs to bring all if their stuff, especially a parasol and cooler full of refreshments.

Living in Salinas affords many opportunities to enjoy a great quality of life. Spending a day at La Chocolatera, and La Lobera, was fantastic. I'm not sure what the other reviewer meant by saying you needed special permission to enter. The vehicle just stops at the gate to enter, as it is located on a military base. Took a taxi out there with friends, and spent several hours. While there we met some surfer friends, who gave us a ride back to Cervichelanda, an area of great chervicherias, and seafood restaurants. I will also submit a review of the excellent restaurant where we had a late lunch. But on the way off the base, we stopped to take many photos of the numerous vintage Ecuadorian military aircraft, right along the road.

Waves are very consistent, good size for surfing, it's an incredible point. One of the best place to surf in Ecuador.

We had the opportunity to go see the sea lion rock right off the point. Can't get to close to them because the rock is 50+ meters away, but it was fun. Still can't figure out how come 15-20 male sea lions came up here from Peru without any accompanying ladies and stayed, but maybe they enjoy the college dorm atmosphere they live without the need to be on their manners.Note: only a few people in Salinas have permission to go to La Loberia and it might be hard to find the right person. Ralph's father-in-law (of Big Ralph's fame) is retired from the military base and was the one person we found who could take you to see the sea lions.

Maravilloso.
