Such a unique place that embodies the uruguayan culture by being an eclectic mix of influences, pictures and memories, music styles and a place to taste our foods and drinks. You won't regret it!

Great bar to enjoy a night in Montevideo, the atmosphere is awesome, tango singers, the decor, recommend for anyone, especially for soccer lovers. Beers are a bit expensive, even so it is a place you must go once in Montevideo.

If you are in Montevideo anyway, and if you are going to be up late(ish), then there's worse places to eat/drink for a few hours and decide for yourself whether the Tango is better here or in next door Argentina. Tables inside are a premium as usually reserved but I had a good enough view with the hoi polloi from the covered terrace adjoining, although I got there before 2200 to grab a well positioned table. I didn't eat but what others had looked to be reasonable bar style food, and locals were there in numbers which is a good sign. Before the show, I enjoyed checking out all the objects etc cluttering the walls of the place. Evocative.

The place is very unique - the location is not the best but the couple dancing tango, the tango singers and players worth the place. Do recomend.

Last night in Montevideo, went for one drink, the bar is nice, quite authentic, but the music performance on a Thursday wasn't great, the tango dance was good. Having only stayed an hour for a pricey glass of wine, we were surprised by the $7/ u-peso120 cover charge not obvious in advance so really v expensive mediocre very cold wine in the end, so not value for money unless you're going for the meal and making a night of it and it's a night when the music is better.

Sadly there was no room from us inside so we listened and watched the show from the terrace which wasn't great as people were busy chatting. It was difficult to follow the show. The food is really average. If you cannot get a table inside don't bother.

This place is right behind the teatro Solis. You will want to make a reservation or show up about 8:30 pm on weekday evenings to secure a table. You may be moved later if there are reservations that show up..... Be ready. By 9pm on a wednesday night the place was jam packed! The food is good: nibbles and pizzas and empanadas. Prices are decent ( considering how expensive the country is) and the entertainment is superb! Great live guitar, song and tango dance.

The Fun Fun ist definetly worth a visit. I went there late at night and there was live-music. It was full, but this is the way you expect it to be and still there was place at the bar to drink the specialty of the house, the uvita wine-drink and to dance. Don't miss it!!

It's located behind Teatro Solid in a strange spot. The pictures I saw beforehand made the place look bigger than it really is, as the capacity is maybe 60 people comfortably. The staff was super friendly but maybe that was the $2 shots of grapamiel. Yum! The stage had a three piece band singing salsa and tango tunes while people tried to dance in the small aisleways. It was a lot of fun but show up early for a seat. We didn't have a reservation but we joined another table of 3 and we had a blast. The food was nothing more than picadas and bar food but okay for a snack to share. I would go back.

At least her photo hangs on he wall- and if she was there she surely had fun. I had. The perfect place for large groups keen on having fun and not really looking for the perfect meal. The starter plate and the pasta plate where ok. The Uvita sweet and cold. The tango show - excelletn even if the heels were swinging close to the heads of the customers sitting closest to the miniature scence. But do make a reservation.

Going to Fun Fun Baar is very entertaining. It’s like meeting your granpa in his favorite cafe when he was young. It’s an old bar with some details dating back to 19th century and still hanging on. The menu is probably also still the same. They serve the picadas, pizzas, sandwiches wine, beer, tango and traditional live performances on weekends. Make your reservations (a must) and get ready for the total immersion experience. The place is extremely popular with the locals. A word of warning - their specialty drink “uvita” is really, really sweet.

my friend and i went without a reservation and the waiting staff looked at us like we were lepers. there was no dancing, nor was there sufficient space for dancing if anybody wanted to do so. perhaps they throw the tables over the balcony after 0100.so after waiting for drinks for 20 minutes we left.

This is a very old bar, over 110 years old, located close to the Mercado Central in Montevideo (behind the Teatro Solis). We went there on a Friday evening, without reservations; the place was full. We were lucky and found a table, but I advise you not to go without reservations! We ate a few "picadas" (appetizers with a variety of things, sort of a sampler) with "uvitas" (typical drink from this particular bar). They also served pizzas and sandwiches. But the main attraction there is to go for "uvitas" and to listen to tango and candombe. Be prepared to stay up late! We missed listened to their tango singers (didn't like much the woman, but the man (who imitates Carols Gardel, has a fantastic voice), but couldn't stay for the candombe which was to run from 2am-4am. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend it.
