There's a few beaches here. The one in the middle is more wavy and not suitable for swimming. The smaller on the left down the stairs is quiet good to swim. However, still be careful because these are not patrol beach.

I was brought here by a local who often visit this beach with her doggies. I guess the happiest living creature here where the doggies running with joy!It was still chilly in December with cold waters coming in from the Antartica. You could literally walk towards a rock island. It is a beautiful beach in the wilderness and the beach was littered with beautiful purple seashells, which I later found out, was seasonal.

The road to Lights has been sealed since my last visit and this is a big improvement. Constant traffic meant the old road was always corrugated. Although poo bags are provided by the municipality, a bin is not so many of the locals kick a hole in the sand and bury their canine offerings. We double bag and take the poo home but this is an obvious difference to other dog exercise areas. This is a spectacular bit of coast and plenty of walkers without dogs can be encountered. The Bibbulmun Track shares the access path to the beach before it heads inland as beachgoers descend the wooden stairway to the beach below. Nice firm beach, rocks, rock pools and shallow water to splash in make this an adventure playground for dogs and children. There is often an onshore breeze and the ocean is rarely calm so it’s not a reliable swimming beach but the dogs always have a lovely time. Today, a man sat high on the hill and operated a large radio-controlled glider up and down the ridge riding the uplift from the steady breeze. Never seen that before. Lights Beach is to the west of Ocean Beach and is at the eastern boundary of the William Bay National Park. There is access from Denmark township via Ocean Beach Road and from the South Coast Highway on the Walpole side of Denmark.

On the eastern edge of Williams Bay National Park, Lights Beach is the local dog beach but is attractive to those without canine company as well. Stairs to get down to water level but lovely walking, rock pools and beautiful white sand in an attractive setting. The ocean in these parts is often rough but further along the beach is a protected pool for the smaller variety of pooch. If you come to Lights Beach via Ocean Beach Road, go back to the highway the other way for variety.
