Visiting Lake Preston is like stepping onto Mars. It's eerie and dry and utterly beautiful. The salty ground is covered in ancient shells and grows bizarre plants that look like they belong at the bottom of the ocean. When we visited, there was not another person in sight but this place is well worth driving out of your way to visit!
