St Mary's Church sits next to the Royal Perth Hospital, on CAT Bus (Red) Stop #26. Outside of this huge church is magnificent, gorgeous facade, unforunately I did not have time to stop to go inside, but I would assume if the outside is this nice, I can only imagine the decour inside. Worth a look!

St Mary's Cathedral is a great demonstration of how old can meet new. The Cathedral is has been altered to extend its size and architecturally this has been done well. It was very peaceful.

After major renovations completed sometime ago, this church is a great refuge of peace and reflection.

It has been a couple of years since the changes to this beautiful cathedral finally completing it. it stands opposite Royal Perth Hospital so it is best you walk up from the city and it is a lovely walk amongst the big tress. Wheelchairs are fine along this walk as well. The cathedral misses some of the old charm it used to have as it has now been moderised which is disappointing because I love the old cathedrals. However, this new cathedral can fit a lot more people in relative comfort and with a view which the old cathedral didn't. In other words a place you want to be in.

On my Annual visit to Perth WA, i took in the Sunday arvo mass time of 5:30pm the "Youth Mass" it was chock a block full, pack to the rafters, The The church is a beautiful cathedral and the service at it was to be remembered. Be warily that when the sunsets the sun comes thru the highest, biggest modern windows 4 stories up i have seen and I know there is tint and what not on the windows but i found the heat from behind was a little overwhelming, luckily for this beautiful cathedral there is underfloor cooling and it did assist but. I just wish the was more airflow during the afternoon sunsets. Please pay your respects and visit this lovely iconic Church, the service is about 1hour or so the youth mass is full of wonderful Hymn songs that modern and makes you feel young again. what makes this church different is that its semi modern it progressive if you want historic old churches with that musty smell and the dusty carpet than go outback in WA, this Cathedral is defiantly a changing church.

A visit to St. Mary's Cathedral is very important when visiting Perth.Recently renovated it offers the tourist a place of rest, peace and tranquility. It has a mix of old and new and offers one the opportunity of enjoying the sacredness of this holy place. Highlighted by beautiful stained glass windows, wrought iron gates, large glassed areas, paintings and much more.Go and see for yourself. You wont be disappointed!Public tours Tuesdays at 10.30 a.m

This church was closed on our day visit ,...but it was undergoing renovations. First Old church I have seen that also has modern additions which totally mix in with the old building & beautiful surrounds.

I was just reading several of the TripAdvisor's comments; all were full of praise, and the photos on Google Images show you why.As a school kid we were 'shepherded' into this cathedral at regular intervals. It always felt old, very large and the 'oldness' and ancient style architecture somehow told us all just how old our religion was.The modernization of the cathedral in recent years really is spectacular. Firstly I love the little waterfall out front. The colour of the front stone work is a lovely cream, but above all the semi-circular now main body of the church creates a feeling of intimacy to the 'action'. I love also the marble floor in the sanctuary.Originally this location, at the top of Murray Street, was set aside for the Saint George's Cathedral - but they thought it a bit too far from the city center. I am sure now they wish they had accepted the Government's offer.Brian from Perth Western Australia.

The restoration work done on this Cathedral, the blend of old and new, is quite awesome. We went along on Christmas Eve for the late Carol service, never having been there before but having just arrive from Sydney wanting to attend a service that evening. A decent stroll from our hotel brought us to this marvellous place.Of course we enjoyed the service, being our main reason for visiting but we did not know what to expect and were suitable awed by the work undertaken. It is certainly worth visiting, and participating in a service if so inclined.

No need to book just rock up and purchase sticker at the counter. I am a world traveller and this cathedral ranks up as the best ever. It is a great place to get out of the heat and have done the tour in. winter to escape the cold...giggling.... This is a local icon and well worth it absolutely stunning inside and outside and the tour guide I had knew his stuff.

Had a wonderful tour of this magnificent cathedral, costs $5 for a very informative tour. Even had someone playing the organ for us well worth a visit.
