Galvan's Gorge is just west of Mt Barnett Station on the Gibb River Road, and unfortunately you can't camp near there, but it is well worth a visit. Small, compared to others around it, but close to the road and a reasonable track. Absolutely beautiful to swim in, and well shaded on those hotter days the Kimberley throws up. If, like we were, still there in the early evening, try looking around with a torch in the creek below the falls and you might find some small "freshies" in the pools. We didn't find their mothers, which was a good thing. A great spot to sit and enjoy the water, the view, and the Kimberley magic.

I was told by people at the caravan park in Derby that this gorge is the highlight of the Gibb River Road. Is there an optometrist in Derby? I think not! The walk into the gorge is along a rocky creek bed. This is where I twisted my ankle on the trip back to the car and hence my biased review!

Galvans gorge is located along the Gibb river road on the left hand side about 14km before Mt Barnett Roadhouse heading east towards Kununurra.Park your car and an approximate 1km walk will take you to this little gorge. A great swim hole.

This is a very accessible gorge and unlike some is a more lush, enclosed spot. Its main downside is that this means it is usually busier than most gorges.

Lovely swimming hole with an easy walk in. Smaller than other gorges we visited but lovely in its own way.

Nice cool swimming hole after a day travelling in 35 degree heat.Actually a great swim whenever. Nice scenery also.

We went first thing in the morning to this gorge (around 7.30am) and had it all to ourselves. It is really spectacular, and is only a relatively short walk from the carpark. It has a rope swing to jump off and the waterfall is really pretty. It is smaller than manning gorge or bell gorge, but I totally recommend going on your way to manning gorge.

You see a lot of gorges in the Kimberley, but this one actually ranks as my favorite. It's not the biggest, it doesn't have the largest waterfall, it doesn't have the most spectacular walk in, but it is a little pocket-sized gorge that has it all.ni think the size actually enhances it, because you can get the whole thing in your head at once. Do swim (or walk) over to the waterfall and sit on the rock under the water.

Such an easy walk in (compared to some of the other gorges along the Gibb). We were just stopping off briefly to check it out but wish we had planned to stay longer. Pack your lunch, enjoy this shady, tranquil, beautiful spot. Great place for a swim too.

From my experience of the Gorges this is by far the most picturesque, not as impressive height wise but makes up in large numbers with its cascading waterfall and Boab positioned on top of the falls overlooking the pool.

I believe the Gorge to see in this area...is the Manning Gorge. We didn't have time...so we decided to take a break at the Galvins Gorge which is 10 minutes down the road. This gorge was only 15 minutes walk from the parking lot...and was scenic along the way. We saw tons of lilypads and flowers, and a huge monitor lizard. The pool was large in size, and the waterfall was gorgeous. There's a nice rock pad around the pool where you can sit and chill for awhile. Have a swim...and enjoy...as this is a great spot to relax during your drive along the Gibb.
