The dirt road into the lookout is rough and tight for an average view. there are a couple of picnic tables in average condition.

This is totally brilliant! Jed at Mansfield Travellers Lodge told us not to miss this, and we're so glad we didn't! What an amazing view, fantastic infrastructure and excellent preservation of our rich, proud (and dubious) history. So worth popping down the track off the Mansfield-Whitfield Rd to see this. Take a picnic or go in the cooler weather so you can light a fire and boil the billy adding a peppermint gum leaf just like old Harry must have done.

Easy to find on the Mansfield Whitfield road. Don't miss the roadsign behind the tree foliage. Good parking. Drop toilets, picnic tables and fireplace. Interesting history of the bushranger William power. Who taught Ned Kelly all the tricks of the trade. Excellent steps of stone and steel, secure and stable and a great view at a number of points.

It was a short drive from Whitfield and worth a visit to look over the valley. Take the time to have a good look around.

Spectacular rock outcroppings reached via quite an engineering feat. When you get to the lookout it is a spectacular view over the valley below. There are two lookouts to see, don't make the mistake of thinking the lookout beside the car par is the only one - the best one is down the track near the information board.

Make the effort and drive up to Powers Lookout. Very special vantage point together with a good Aussie bushranging yarn.

Harry had a good eye for real estate! Great place to visit when in the area, don't forget to see the Ned Kelly Tree whilst in the area, probably 45 minutes away.To see the entire walk allow 30-40 minutes and there are steep stairs so the extended walk is not for unfit or incapacitated. Great signage and descriptions outline much of Harry Powers life and adventures to.The road is unmade but there is parking and toilets too.

Wonderful and surprising views. Also try the track to the left which takes you up and down the escarpment on a well constructed stair to another wonderful aspect.

Powers lookout is named after Harry Power (highway-style bushranger) he was captured at the lookout. It is a few kilometres off Whitfield-Mansfield Rd and a very easy dirt track, which we have low profile tyres on our car and had no problems. There are two lookouts point here. One of the lookouts is easily accessible for most people only about 100metre from the car park. If you are not able to do the steps you will not be disappointed this picnic area has great views also. The second lookout (about 300 metre walk) has some steep steps to the peak but plenty of handrail and the views are amazing. This is a must do walk; it can be slippery after rain. You will not disappoint from any view in this area.

Well worth the 3km diversion on a sometimes very rocky road. I had to be careful and not puncture any tyres on what looked like large sharp rocks. But I once I got to the lookout I was blown away. Mt Hotham and Mt Feathertop both had snow on them and your also see Mt, Bogong in the distance. Probably more spectacular in Winter and early Spring, but nevertheless a great view of the King Valley awaits.Do it!

Well worth the drive to this lookout. Lovely bush land of historical significance. Beautiful views if the king valley.

You would not go 100 miles out of your way to see this attraction but if you are in the area definitely stop and do the short and fun little walk to the lookout. The view is spectacular and the kids will enjoy the obstacle course you must manage to get to the lookout

Fantastic view, you really get to appreciate the geography of the King Valley. Mountains in the background, well signposted, local history information, toilets, barbque, and interesting walk to the look out.

If you're in the region, then a side trip up to Powers Lookout is a must. Only heavy rain could put me off a trip to the lookout as the views may be hampered by low clouds , but that in itself can be most enjoyable. My advice is to wear good solid walking shoes.
