Had everything I needed to know about town- location of laundromat, library, best place for the car to be serviced, best priced pub etc, the girls really helped me out. Huge place for a look around. Also, the showers were very welcome. I had been camping out at a dam outside of town for free so $2 for a hot shower was well worth it.They also could change my notes to $1 coins for the laundromat. Good off-street parking for caravans and trailers! PS- laundromat in town near woolies is 6 bloody dollars per load, so maybe go to a van park to use theirs.

There is a range of souvenirs, artworks and memento's available to purchase here as well as some great information from staff who provide you with advice, detailed maps of the town and surrounding areas.

We went in to find out what to do in Mt Isa, and found very little printed information on the township or its attractions. Staff didn't bother to ask if we would like some assistance, and we soon walked out again. In saying that, there was a reasonable number of brochures and publications on places further afield, which will undoubtably assist in our further trip planning. There was also a range of Mt Isa branded gifts available, as well as the ability to book tours from the desk. We did not venture into the display areas, nor de we partake in a tour of the underground mine.

The Information Centre was closed when we stopped by but someone was still working inside and he generously opened the door to help us find our way. He even gave us a very descriptive map of Mt Isa which really helped us find our way around.
