well maintained, nothing special if you've seen a lighthouse before really, a nice little stop off on the way to the beach if you are going that way

We did the day trip out to the Island. Snorkelling was amazing, lots of fish, and turtles, didn't say any Manta Rays . Lovely helpful staff. Wish we had stayed overnight, so many things to do in a day. Great value for money. Looking forward to going back one day

This is a must do when in Queensland!!! We only went for a day trip which was great fun and a day i will never forget but i wish i had stayed there for a few days really as it is a place to completely rest, unwind and swim/snorkel or bird watch. We flew direct from Hervey Bay which is the only way to get on the island and that was fantastic. This was a short flight. Such stunning views of the island. Like a jewel sparkling in the ocean. The day was spent walking around the reef at low tide, on the glass bottom boat where we saw all sorts of sea life including sharks. We then went for a swim with turtles and manta rays and then a little walk around the beautiful island listening to all the birds... So many of them. The people were lovely and friendly and the whole day such good value. If i were to do it all again, i would stay for at least one night... Maybe two! This is the most southern tip of the great barrier reef and the amount of fish was crazy. I have never seen so many stunning and different coloured fish in my life. And so many sizes. Amazing!!!

Great place. Stayed 3 days which is a good amount to snorkel/dive all spots, see turtles nesting, and nesting birds, etc. Flight was fun. Very pleasant accommodation and staff. Food is very basic (lots of it, but nothing special). Beers by the beach are a great treat after great snorkelling. Nice eco-theme and they work *with* the bird/turtle inhabitants.

Great information provided by the friendly activities staff. Interesting history and some ghost stories to boot! Definitely worth a look.

What a fabulous place! We stayed in the resort for a week and will definitely be back. The lighthouse has such a history and is explained so very well by the resort staff on a tour of the island. Swimming with reef sharks (harmless and friendly) and very curious turtles is a memory that will stay with me forever! The reef has to seen to be believed and the fish are fabulous! Roll on next year when we see the nesting turtles!

A wonderful spot to watch the sunset. Plus great snorkeling there or to start from there and drift to to Coral Gardens.

A small lighthouse with lots of history, worth a walk up mainly for the fantastic views of the Great Barrier Reef .The old lighthouse sits next to the new lighthouse. They sit on the quiet beach great for sitting on to get away from it all.Its a good spot to drop into the ocean and spot the Manta rays.

Do the night tour of Island great story about the original lighthouse scary and fun for all the family

The history of the lighthouse is available at the education centre on an information sheet or you can take an island tour to find out about it. You see the old and the new (solar-powered automated) lighthouses side by side. Mostly the lighthouse is the site of one end of the snorkelling/diving reef, so you will see a lot of it if you're in the water.

Great trip been here 5 times. Got to swim with Manta Rays and see turtles laying there eggs at night. Worth coming and checking it out.

Give the lighthouse a miss if you have a chance to snorkel. Only visit the lighthouse if you have no other thing to do.

Mind the wasp nest in the window! Otherwise, great history to go with it and protected, which is great!

We had a very short flight from Bundaberg. Weather was great with a slight breeze.Shortly after arriving we had an informative glass bottom boat excursion, followed by snorkelling. The water was extremely clean and a pleasant of 23C. Good and plentiful varieties of fish, rays, sharks and coral. The scientist who conducted the island discovery/bird tour had a full knowledge and a real passion. This continues on to fish feeding in the lagoon. The staff was extremely helpful and frinedly. A buffet lunch was supplied. Reef walking shoes, snorkels, towels and showering facilities were supplied free. Suggest if you own reef walking shoes, you bring your own.It is good to see that the island is slowly returning to its pristine condition with the birds and turtles are returning in great numbers.A note of caution when deciding to go, do not rely on a fine/sunny day. This may indicate that the wind has blown away the clouds. It is far more important to find wind condition. Strong winds may stop the glass bottom boat being launched or being able to snorkel.
