Tammy is a thoughtful, articulate and informative guide, and her horses are much loved, well cared for, and free spirited (without being flighty!) - this was the best guided horse ride I have done anywhere because of this combination of free-form riding and informed guidance - quite brilliant, and a wonderful way to see the beach too:)Can't recommend Bana Bama enough - do it!Oh, and the rest of the menagerie is a laugh a minute too....

I booked in for a horse ride last minute at 7am, it was supposed to be the guide's day off but she accommodated us, very thoughtful of her. It was only me and two other friends, but we were charged the regular price instead of the higher price for a private ride. What a bargain! They even loaned us some more appropriate footwear as we had only brought flip flops and sandals. It was a unique experience to go through the bush, rainforest, and the beach all in one ride. She told us about the indigenous traditions for the land and some superstitions about the local rocks (don't take home the bouncing stones or bad things will happen!). A very unique experience and great horses that were keen to canter without much effort. This is the first time I have encountered such willing horses. The day was finished off with some delicious damper and homemade jams. She even got off her horse halfway through the ride to take some great tourist pictures for us. I cannot sing my praises enough, thank you Bana Bama for a great morning! I only booked due to the glowing reviews on tripadvisor so I thought I would add my own.

Had an absolutely amazing time and couldn't recommend this experience enough. It was by far the best trip I did from port Douglas and one of the best days I've ever had. I hadn't ridden in years and was excited to do so again, the guide Tammy was excellent and friendly, a very positive person. Was made to feel at ease and given lots of freedom to canter and gallop which I loved. The setting was beautiful and something which will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Having not ridden for around 10 years I was pretty keen to get back in the saddle, although a little nervous. My niece came along with me, and she was pretty much a novice at the whole thing too having only ridden once or twice being led around. The exceptional service started when we were offered a pickup from our hotel free of charge, and just got better and better from there. Terrence and Corrinne were our guides and made us both feel comfortable from the very second we hopped on our horses. We were given plenty of guidance, but also the freedom to do as we wished. Trotting along the beach and through the rainforest in the rain was an unreal experience I'll never forget- not to mention cantering down an airstrip!I was walking like a cowboy for a couple of days afterwards but it was worth every second of the pain. By far the best thing we did in FNQ- would do it again in a heartbeat! You will seriously regret it if you don't give it a go!

Tammy was our guide and Chelsea prepped us for the ride. I rode Bella and my son rode a beautiful horse named Matey. We rode the 3 hour ride through the magnificent rain forest, through tributaries and onto the beach. It was a private paradise beyond description of words. Tammy was not only a very elegant horse rider she also is one of the most knowledgeable guides in the Wonga Beach area. The horses are very well taken care of and they were spirited and fun to ride. We could not have dreamed of a better activity to experience on our holiday. If you are considering a horse riding adventure this is the REAL DEAL. Thank you Tammy for an adventure my son and I will treasure for the rest of our life!

My 12 year old daughter and I experienced the hour's sunset ride on Wonga Beach tonight. We were collected from our accommodation by our guide Roxy who was lovely, really upbeat, happy & knowledgeable about the area. We met another member of staff Chelsea on arrival at the stables & she was also very helpful & friendly. We were on a ride of 4 people & we were matched to horses for our ability, all behaved impeccably. Because my daughter & I were more experienced, we go the chance to canter along the beach which was good fun. It got dark very quickly & we ended up completing the ride in the dark but Roxy did a fabulous job in looking after us & warning us as to where the low branches were! Thoroughly enjoyed it & Roxy is an excellent guide - wish I had some of her joie de vivre. Thanks again from Amanda & Livvy x

Just so much fun! Have always wanted to canter along a beach in the water. Absolutely done! The horses were so beautiful & well behaved. Felt confident right from the moment we rode off. My husband, who hasn't had much experience on a horse, was well taken care of & totally enjoyed the experience. Our son who is 14 who also hasn't had a lot of experience, just loved it. He ended up trotting & cantering & had the best time ever. Wonga Beach is a fabulous location perfect for horse riding. Our guide was excellent! Cannot wait to get back to Port Douglas & go to Bana Bama again. It was definitely one of the hi-lights of our trip.

The ride was well worth the sore legs! We rode along the beach and through the rainforest and native title land which was relaxing and beautiful. It was a great value 3 hr ride with yummy dampa and ice cold water at the end! The owner picked me up from my resort and dropped me back which was very welcome as I was doing this solo. The staff are extremely friendly and were right there to help when needed. I will be back to do this again when I am next in Port Douglas. The animals were well looked after and well behaved, do it, it is well worth the aches at the end.

Underfed horses, poor safety awareness and rude. A place to avoid. Awful experience that left us very upset.

My wife and I have just done a 3 hour ride. We have done trail rides before - some good but this ride was easily the best we have ever done. The deserted beach and rain forest ride was outstanding. The horses were perfectly matched to our individual experience level and the guide was the best. The ride leader made the statement on us arriving that this was 'our ride' and this was definitely the case. I am a novice rider (a little nervous) and the confidence I gained from the personal attention kept a smile on my (and my wife's) face for the whole 3 hours. My wife is a more experienced rider and she was also catered for. The damper and tea was delicious and a great way to end the day.

This was my 2nd visit in the past 2 months and was well worth the aches and pains ! My guide was Roxy who was extremely encouraging and patient. I'm very inexperienced, but this time around trotted with confidence and even had a short canter. The ride takes you through the rainforest and the beautiful, deserted Wonga Beach. My horse Bella was very gentle and didn't seem to mind walking when the other horses were taking off down the beach. The 3 hours flew buy and ended with Tammy's sensational damper. All the staff are really friendly, accommodating and helpful. Highly recommended

From riding along a deserted beach and exploring rain forests, to galloping down an airplane landing strip and all with interesting and wonderful guides. The horses are incredibly well looked after and they even have an adopted wild boar who plays with the dog and the shetland pony. This place is wonderland! I will never forget this experience thank-you so much for letting me be apart of it. PS Delicious fresh dampers after the ride!

We had a brilliant 3 hour trek on the beach and through the Rainforest we even got a canter spot in on the way home! The guide Chelsea was lovely throughout encouraging us and explaining the history around the various areas we were going through. The beach was beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves. We were lucky with the weather too. All safety gear was provided and our horses seemed happy and healthy is a little stubborn! This is a great trip for experienced or non experienced riders of all ages. We were even treated to the best damper bread we've Had in Aussie and a cuppa tea on arrival back from our ride....a nice touch thanks! Tammy thanks for the pick up and drop off and insightful conversation.
