This memorial of the 15 backpackers that tragically died from a fire purposely lit is well worth visiting. We were moved by the effort this town has put into this commemoration and the thought provoking display, although we did not personally know these kids, we left feeling we now know them a little.We will visit again

having visited many times, you are always drawn to the sad and moving history of the Palace, today of course you find wonderful art and cultural must see's, all delivered by very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Always worth the 'Remembering' via the Memorial. We wondered if similar international memorials might be inspired by Palace Backpackers example. New exhibitions always of interest. Staff always helpful.

Very sad but a must to see. So many young lives lost due to a fire which was lit by someone. The memory of the lovely young backpackers will never be lost, photos are touching and very well presented. Hope this never happens again.
