Three of us out on a walk dropped in on the Coal Loader Centre. What a surprise and delight to find this centre of sustainability set up in this historic site. Vegetables, herbs, plants are being organically grown in a community garden; beautiful chooks kept on site too. These I believe supply eggs to all those helpful volunteers. Better still, there is to be cafe "opening soon" There is much to explore with the old coal-loading tunnels, sandstone walls, wharf, caretakers cottage and a visitor orientation deck with site maps and history information. Quite a showcase for sustainability - rainwater is collected from rooftops and a bush food garden has been established.I think the North Sydney Council should be congratulated for this community project.
