Last night we had our end of year dinner at the Top Pub in Uralla. It was a wonderful night! An amazing atmosphere, scrumptious food, fabulous service and live music! We danced the night away! The courtesy bus back to Armidale was great. Thank you so much to the Top Pub for providing such a wonderful venue and service. Your staff were so professional and polite and worked so well as a team to cater for such large numbers. We can't wait to come back!

We stopped here on a road trip from Brisbane to Tamworth. The food was basic but good and the staff were exceptionally helpful. Would return next time we are close by.

Its hard to describe just how poor an experience was had here in Uralla.Ive been writing reviews for many years, this is my first online review. Prompted by the worst service i have ever experienced. The food was overcooked, tough and tasteless not to mention over priced for a pub.Our simple order arrived after a wait of 72min, with this wait, our meals were cold upon arriving at our table. The atmosphere could only be described as confused, no planning or thought involved there.Drinks, my beer off tap was flat, after requesting for 2 more replacements (still flat) i looked at a "clean" glass. Not so clean at all, how do they expect a beer to keep a head with what looked like BBQ sauce in the bottom of the glass. The only justification i could see to award this "dive" one star not zero was due to the good selection of fine local wines, although still over priced. Its time for the owner to move on, into council work or what not because running a pub isn't your calling.Sincerely The Critic

I was very happy with the top Pub in Uralla. The food was very great and was very gourmet. I was so happy with the service!!!!! The Top Pub is the best one around town and i can't wait to go there again and see the friendly smiles and the great personality that is always there!!! All the food that we ordered was very quick to arive at the table and all the food that was ordered was what we wanted even the gluten free dish that we ordered for our son!! Thankyou to all the staff there!! I was also so happy for the facilties for my young children!!! Thankyou so much for the great night and we will be back again for sure!!!!

We chose this venue because they advertise that their meals can be gluten free and with a family member diagnosed with celiac disease this sounded great. I explained when ordering which meal couldn't have any wheat/gluten on the plate and was given advice about options to choose. We were happy with this ... until the meal came to the table. The first time the order was wrong. The second time it had gravy all over it (the chef couldn't tell us if the gravy was gluten free or not). The next time, we were handed the plate with the comment "the chips aren't gluten free". We asked for a new plate without chips so that there was no cross contamination. The plate came back with a greasy spot where the chips had been wiped away, plus more gravy. When we explained that the gravy wasn't guaranteed to be gluten free so couldn't be eaten, the server rolled her eyes. The next plate came out stone cold with the comment "we think the sausage is gluten free but we're not sure". Another meal was missing the 'special aioli'. Unfortunately there was still some gluten in the meal given to the person with celiac disease, who ended up being physically sick just after eating it. Finally, we discovered that we had been significantly overcharged for our meal (1/4 of the total price was added on top). Will not be going back.

We had a hard time choosing what meal to select because the menu was filled with delicious sounding choices. Most of which were made using local New England produce. Once we finally decided the food we picked was fantastic! We recommend trying the Barker River Pork.A great find in a small country town - obviously catering to the tourist market - dont hesitate.

We stayed here for one night & will NEVER do so again. The noise from the nightclub was appalling, and at no stage was I given any indication that there would be a dance party directly outside our room that night. You would think, considering the fact that I had my 11 year old son with me when I checked in, they would at least mention it. I don't think that hearing a bunch of incredibly drunk people screaming over the music that was pounding through the walls or the dj repeatedly swearing over the microphone is something he needed. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to stay in the room, otherwise we would have left.If you're planning a visit to Uralla, I would highly recommend finding alternate accommodation. Stay well away from the Top Pub.

Good plain accommodation, we stayed in family room separate to the pub so you hear all the bottleo activity (if you are room bound with baby!) till it closes but not any pub noise. Photos on their website are accurate what you see is what you get, all clean & in working order but nothing fancy. (They don't have travel cots so bring your own if you need one.) Good coffee in the town in the morning. Good stop over spot long journey esp. if doing New England/Thunderbolts way drive.

Whilst the accomodation is VERY basic the atmosphere is great and the staff and locals really friendly. We stayed for 2 nights and after entering and finding the lock on the front door broken, the fan in the bathroom sounding like a helicopter taking off, and bathroom tiles broken we proceeded downstairs and found the amazing food and warm and friendly bar. We think it is overpriced for the facilities HOWEVER supply and demand dictate the cost and we still had a fabulous fun time and would stay again.

I needed to break up a 9 hr road trip and the half way point (between Newcastle and Boonah) was Uralla or Armidale. For the fun and experience of it I decided to stay overnight in Uralla - small town - should be some nice federation atmosphere and it's always good to add to a small towns economy if you can.The Top Pub is on the main road in and out of Uralla and is opposite 2 coffee shops, up the road from a subway, newsagency and pharmacy - and there are ATMs available. The accommodation provided is clean and tidy - with old buildings having been renovated to provide motel like accomodation. At $50 a night for a single (two single beds per room) with an ensuite, television and basic kettle toaster etc - you don't really need anything more. The kitchen at the pub provides lovely meals, with friendly staff and accepting locals. I believe the double rooms cost around $75 which would be suitable for a weekend country getaway if you are taking the bike out for a spin or want to check out a few country antique op shops.Uralla is home to Captain Thunderbolt - bush ranger of note - even having a mountain range road named in his honour (Thunderbolts way). That particular road is quite mountainous, twisty and lonesome. Not recommended for night driving - do your travelling during the day and have a little relaxation at night for that particular section of road. When it comes to a beautiful day drive though - it is gorgeous - plenty of opportunities to pull up by a creek and have a picnic in the lush green countryside.Worth calling Top Pub a day or two before to ensure they have rooms available - but if you are looking for an inexpensive option - they are a good call. I stayed on the way up to Boonah and a few days later on the way back. The first room was good - the second room was still in the middle of a small bit of renovation. Nothing that stops you showering or sleeping - so no great bother. May be a little hot in Summer with no air con (I think they had some pedastal fans though) and you would need the repellant to have the windows open - but in winter it would be quite cosy - and I do love a good crisp weekend in the country!
