Apart from unexpected 36 degree heat late into the evening, this walk was exactly as expected. The lookout is just that - a view over the Griffith area. Great for a souvenir photo. The loop walk is as advertised and well enough sign posted along the way, even if we did lose a couple of the markers. The site may not be as it originally was built, but seriously? What do people expect to see 100 years after it was constructed? My teenage kids really enjoyed imagining how that man built everything he did and wondering at what life would have been like for him. My advice: take lots of water and hats in summer and use your imagination to fully appreciate the site.

Loved the challenge of the walk and how well it has been perserved. The view was amazing. Easy to get to and a lot of fun

was a great day out wif da family, exploring the surroundings and meeting new people and also reading more about the local area

Very interesting attraction. With a little imagination you can see how this gentleman lived. This is such a unique attraction it is dissapointing that the authorities have not maintained it to its full potential. Getting to the caves requires quite a bit of walking and scrambling over rocks etc, definately not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

We found out about the site on Tripadvisor and some googling found this page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerio_Ricetti - which made me very keen to see the site. We went to the Griffith Information Centre to get a map and check for directions but its very well sign posted and easy to walk around. The site has grown over and there is some graffiti which is disappointing but overall its a great walk, there are a few signs and with a little imagination you can see what used to be there. Worth checking out!

We enjoyed our time exploring this area. We had a bouncy 7 yr old with us who had fun wondering the stepped pathways. Well sign posted with information provided. It was in a sad state of neglect though and could do with some tlc.

Great views, beautiful climb through rocks & fascinating story of Hermit Valerio Ricetti but only for the brave as rumoured to be haunted caves.See Facebook group Valerio Ricetti's Ghost

The location above the Hermit's Cave was a fantastic spot for the family to sit have lunch and enjoy the panoramic views surrounding Griffith. A short walk down the steep embankment (toddlers have to be carried) leading to the cave was a bit saddening. Whilst remnants of the Cave remain nothing of the plantings of shrubs and trees were evident. The walk back along the rocky outcrop showed numbered caves. There were only a couple of small fig trees and scatterings of cacti. The attraction is rated as poor on the basis that this could have been a great historical site if maintained along the same lines laid out by the Hermit and perhaps BBQ area's along the walk would be great too. It's worth a look and would be great for kids to explore too.

This is an interesting piece of Griffith's history. Get an information pamphlet from the visitor's information centre before you go. While it is in a fair amount of disrepair, it is amazing to witness what this one man achieved with limited resources.

Simply we couldn't find it. We were so looking forward to this outing and after stumbling onto the lookout by sheer chance we then couldn't find the cave. No signage to tell you where to go, what way to go? So disappointed! We were too early for the tourist centre so if you want to see this make sure you get some good directions from the tourist centre before you head there. Good luck.

This is worth the look. There is a 1.7km loop that you can hike through and see how he lived and what he built himself. Informative signage explaining what all the caves were used for. Do it early in the morning if it's going to be a hot day though.

What a great piece of history Griffith has. It really was spectacular. Only downfall was walking with a young toddler

Gives an overview of parts of Griffith and its recent developements. Vantage points around Griffith are limited due to flat terrain of the area.
