While holidaying in Eden we made the trip out to see Ben Boyd's Tower which was to be a lighthouse. The government of the day would not approve it and it was later used to spot whales. The road in from the highway is bitumen all the way except for the last 1 km. The path and boardwalk to the tower is wheelchair friendly although up hill on the return to the carpark. There is a great lookout right near the tower which allows you to view the amazing rock formations below the tower. Another lookout is behind the tower and this looks back towards Eden across the water. There are information boards along the path which tell of the building of the tower and the history of the whaling industry etc.Well worth the drive in. Take the time to take a detour to the Navy Wharf which is not far from the tower. if you are lucky, you may see a ship being loaded at the Wood chip Mill wharf nearby.

The drive in from the Highway to this hidden gem is about eighteen kilometres and only the last one kilometre is dirt road which has a few big pot holes so pay attention. You will find a public toilet in the middle of the bushed area in the centre of the circular parking area. (I almost missed seeing it in the bushes) The walk from the car to the tower was approximately 300 metres along a good walking track. There were signs telling about the man who built the tower and more information about whaling in the area. You can walk into the bottom floor of the tower and it has a boardwalk which goes completely around it and down to one of the two lookouts. The closer lookout has steep stairs however it is the more spectacular view as the rock formations are unusual with great colours. Photo opportunity for both I's say. The second lookout faces back across the Bay to Eden. Even the walk in was interesting so put this on your list of places to visit.

As a continuation of visit to the Killer Whale museum the Boyd tower is a must. It is well worth the drive to see the tower and the views are amazing.

We were surprised by the magnificent rock faces when we got here. We found it very interesting. There were rock folds, and also building blocks that were on the ground, that the workers had marked into board games, eg. checkers.

It is an adventure just to get to the Bend Boyd Tower. Bit disappointed when we got there because you can't actually climb to the top of the tower. You can only walk in from ground level. Still very interesting and worth the effort.

Great walk and great views of Eden. Take some water with you but it is a great 10 min. walk. Have two look outs for you to see.

Used as a scouting tower, the sandstone bricks imported from Sydney show the folly of Ben Boyd and his empire. Great building on the edge of Two Fold Bay, and plenty of history to read about.

Views from here are amazing. Well worth a visit. Lovely walking track which makes it easy to negotiate through the bushland. The history of the area is well documented.

short walk from car park, area has been neglected for some time, but the views from the tower (Next to tower) the coastline and surrounding area are magnificent as the tower is not accessible due to maintainer issues

The guy who built this tower was just crazy but the setting is stunning. No whales or dolphins spotted the day we were there. The whole area around Eden is quite gorgeous though. Make sure you follow all the paths from the tower as each view is worth seeing - yet another photographers delight.n

New Life on the Road was down in Eden for the whale festival. We went to Ben Boyd Tower, where we stood at the lookout and watched for whales. We spotted a Mama Whale and Baby Whale not far from shore, watching it playing and resting in between. The tower is a magical spot for children, with lots of great windows to look out, play hide and seek and explore. The history of Ben Boyd Tower is a great homeschooling history lesson. If you are in Eden then the tower is a must place to stop at and spend time learning more on Ben Boyd.

Tower was good, location good, history was very interesting. The road to it was long and dirt. We had to make a donation to see the Tower.

This is at the end of a 17km drive off the main highway. You go down a dirt road for 1km or so. Then a short easy walk brings you to the tower. Past the towers are a oil,e of lookouts. Yes an nice visit but make sure you go to the old Whaling station as well.
