Wilpena pound is an amazing place. There is a good camping ground close by (Rawnsley Park). The hike up the pound can be painful and slightly dangerous (there is a marked trail, but it is full of crumbling rocks). The advantage of going towards Rawnsley Bluff point is that you can get a panoramic view of the horseshoe pound from the mid-point. Just be sure to carry lots of water and not venture alone or in the dark (camping is prohibited on the pound).

Had a great time and the staff were great. Accommodation was wonderful and clean. There was so much to see and do. The flight over the Pound was great.

Completely beautiful, and the range of hikes around the area are great, ranging from easy to hard. Routes are well signposted. We did one of the hard ones which was 4 hours (or 6 I can't remember now) up and down it, and the colours and scenery are amazing!

The Flinders Ranges are one of the most interesting natural environments in Australia. Wilpena Pound is extraordinary and is a stunning natural phenomenon whether seen from the ground or on a sightseeing flight. A tour through the gorges is a must and the many walking trails are fascinating.

The best way to see what Wilpena has to offer, take a flight,30 mins is all you need to see the beauty of this place. Far in the distance you can see the salt lakes and immediately under you or to the side are the breath taking ranges in there many shapes and forms. Lets not forget Wilpena this is the best view ever. Do it!!!!

Wilpena Pound is a massive fold basin in the Flinders Ranges. The Pound is entirely protected in the Flinders Range National Park. There are a number of hikes that can be done, ranging from easy, to down-right challenging. If you are up to it, try climbing Saint Mary Peak, second highest peak in the state. Give yourself a day rest and then hike to Edeowie Gorge.Photographers can get good shots on the eastern side early in the morning and on the western side in the late afternoon.

Die Flinders waren mein schönstes Erlebnis während meiner Australienrundreise. Ein grandioser Nationalpark mit extrem vielen Tieren, wunderbaren Wanderwegen, tollen Aussichten und Fotomotiven, alles perfekt sauber!
