Upon recommendation my dad and I ventured out to Turkey Flats vineyard, what a treat! The free standing vines as you come down the driveway make for amazing photo opportunities even before you get to the cellar door. We were welcomed by warm smiles and the resident puppy (Charlie?) which really gave the location a homey, family-owned vibe rather than the commercial masses. The Great Shiraz is very appropriately named (be sure to ask for the back story behind that one as well as the Conquerer and the Twist). A fantastic variety off wines on offer. However the best part of the experience was by far our server Wendy. Working in a winery myself, I was keen to play tourist and see what other places were doing differently and how I could improve the wine tasting experience back home. Never have I met someone that clearly enjoys their job, has great wine knowledge, a sense of humour and such enthusiasm for what they do. Thank you for a fantastic tasting experience!

Being a fan of the turkey flat rose while in the Barossa for a weekend my partner and I had this as a 'must do'. Lucky for us we were the only ones there so got very personalised service. All the wines we tried were delicious with obviously the rose being the stand out for me but we bought a bottle of the red and the fortified wine. A winery not to miss when you are in the region!!!

We arrived for a tasting session and to buy some sparkling shiraz for Christmas. There was another group of about 6 – 5 girls and one guy. They must have been doing the rounds of the wineries for the day, as by this time, one of the girls was really quite sozzled and rather loud, which didn’t add a lot to the ambience to the small and fairly intimate tasting area. The lad behind the counter was attentive and helpful, but there wasn’t much of an opportunity to chat about things in more detail, so we finished up quickly and left. The Sparkling Shiraz is extremely good and very highly recommended, as is their normal Shiraz. I also like their Grenache and Mourvedre, but don’t understand the fuss about the rose.Well worth a visit but keep your fingers crossed there aren’t many other people there!

My partner and I loved this place - very grateful to some industry friends for giving us the heads up as their wines were fantastic. Beautiful Shiraz. The cellar door itself was gorgeous - like an old country house. Low key, there is something very special about it. As you drive down the entrance you pass some of the oldest vines in the world - spectacular to look at. The service was superb - what you want wine tasting is above all a serious expert who can teach you while you taste. Got it here.

Turkey flat produces a variety of white, rose and red wines, along with some sweets and stickies. We tasted 6 wines and 1 sticky, of note was the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Rose and The Last Straw. We were happy to hear that the wines are also available in the UK through Majestic and BB&R. Cellar door 9-5p and wines are tasted in the old butchery.

This was the last stop of our winery tour! This is a lovely boutique winery with a small selection of wines to taste but they all tasted great!! The gentleman behind the bar was polite and friendly. Even though its small they are still very reasonably priced. Worth the Visit!

This was the last winery of our tasting and we were allocated a separate room and the staff made a big fuss over us. Although we had many tastings we were encouraged to drink plenty of water in between. We stayed for an hour and thirty minutes tasting their full range of wines. We purchased a good selection for later. It was now time to venture back to Adelaide

After reading great reviews by James Halliday and the Adelaide Advertiser newspaper, we decided that we were long overdue to visit the Turkey Flat wines cellar door. We were not disappointed. Driving in off the main road you can't help to notice the century old Grenache vines. There are also some Shiraz vines on the property that date back to 1847. The historic butchery is the venue for the cellar door and makes for a quaint tasting room. The lady who served us was friendly and knowledgable. As the saying goes, do yourself a favour.
