Just a fantastic place to soak up the views of the surrounding areas. Just get out the car and explore. Probably the greatest scenary and flora and fauna to be found in the area.

Whilst not that accessible from downtown the gulf was magic and we did the sail tour with afternoon tea - a real treat! cant remember name of the main island but looked beautiful

We only explored a tiny part of this marine area. Our first views were from North Head Devonport where you get a feel for the vastness. Later we crossed to Rangitoto and had a better impression and appreciation of why so many sailors rave about this area, from the summit of Rangitoto we could see more out laying Islands which looked ideal for exploring at a later date. Even our small excursion into this marine area was enough to get an idea. Other reviewers who sailed this area will surely have more to comment and advise.

Sailing out on the Ocean is so exhilarating. Sparkling sea and the Sea Gulls flying overhead. If you don't have a boat they are able to be hired. And to catch the fish is so exciting. A day out here is so well worth while

This island is beautiful and covered in regenerated native bush, there are beautiful walks all over the island and pristine beaches. The locals are not particularly welcoming which is a bit of a shame. The ferry to get there is a bit long and tedious, 4.5 to 5 hours. Next time I visit I will go by fast ferry. It is certainly an awesome part of New Zealand which all kiwis should visit if they can. Wonderful walks through beautiful forests. I would love to go back.

We sailed through the Gulf on a cruise ship leaving in daylight with sunshine and a gentle breeze. Watercraft were everywhere making the most of the conditions as well as the ferries plying back and forth to Davenport and Birkenhead.Looking back to the Auckland City skyline is a sight unlike any other in NZ and the colour of the water changed hues continually. Several islands are part of this huge Marine Park that is home to dolphins, whales and birds.Absolutely stunning!

We are Aucklanders who decided to be tourist for an evening. It was a great trip, very luxurious, great food, staff were very friendly and informative and we really enjoyed ourselves. We cruised out from the harbour, spent the night at a bay in the Harbour. You could go snorkleing, swimming or kakaying or stay on the boat and relax. It was something different and relaxing and we didnt have to drive anywhere. The only negative was it wasnt long enough.

Lovely travelling across the gulf passing other boats and seeing the different islands.Went to Waiheke Island and spent a couple of hours then back on the ferry.

I would highly recommend a trip on one of the NZ America's Cup sailing yachts. Just lie back and enjoy it or take part as "crew", raising and lowering sails, and even take a spell at the helm - sailing a big yacht under the harbour bridge was very exciting!

There are marine mammals around like whales and dolphins. There lots of beautiful islands to visit too. Also a good place to fish
