atelier paré - économusée de la sculpture sur bois

My husband and I stopped here as part of our mini-tour of the Cote de Beaupre. We made a drive of the Royal Road and revisited various economusee that we had previously undertaken on a guided tour many years ago. The small museum on site is very pleasant and the owner is gracious, friendly and lovely to chat with. SHE made the visit. We had mentioned that we had tried to visit the Edison museum and that it was closed. Madame generously offered to call the owner and arrange for him to open for us. There are so many lovely carvings available for purchase that it was hard to choose!

The area along the Cote de Beaupre has 3 parallel roads, the lowest,is route 138, the middle one is the rue Royal. On that road is a modest house with a lovely garden. When you enter, you are in a modest foyer, and Scott or his wife, will orient you and invite you to look at the articles about M. Pare, when you turn the corner, you enter, to your left, what feels like a chapel, but the huge carved and painted wall is covered with legends from Quebec, with wonderful explanations in French, English, German, Japanese, Chinese. Scott and his wife apprenticed with M Pare when he was alive, and continue to expand their language in wood. We bought two of their "will o'whisps". By the way, the uppermost road is only residential, but the views are lovely.
