景色太好了,非常理想的烧烤地点,不过就是周边没有什么娱乐。离capilano很近,每次去完capilano或者grouse mountain都要来这里坐一坐。山上也有trail可以走,因为有些阴森,所以从来没有走过。

I love free, and i love walks in the forest. If you are visiting and going to the cap bridge or grouse mountain on your own, it would be foolish not to take a look looksey around clevaland dam and go for a little nature walk. Driving, a quick hop off the transcanada, head north after you exit for cap bridge or grouse. Head north towards grouse, and the park (free parking) will be 5 mins up the road. If you driving from downtown Van (15 mins), squotch over the lions gate bridge, merge right, and make your first left (lights Petro Canada), Up this road you will find the capilano suspension bridge (PAID ATTRACTION), capilano river hatchery (free), cleveland dam (free), grouse mountain (Paid Attraction and depending on the time of year not worth it) If you want to take public transit, hop on the sea bus from Waterfront Station (downtown) you will end up at Lonsdale Quay. You want to then hop on the bus number #236. Remember to ask for a transfer on the sea bus, so that you can use it for transit for up to two hours. Cap lake, hiking trails, Cap river and the fish hatchery are totally worth checking out. Their are restrooms, but i suggest bringing your lunch. Cap river holds 1/3 of Vancouver's Drinking water, and there is great spots to enjoy a picnic before or after your hike. Great for all ages, and ALL fitness levels. The paths are fairly flat. Enjoy

The dam is a great place to go for a walk, or hike. The dam is quite impressive to see. A fun outing rain or shine for locals or tourists.

for a freebee site to visit and walk over this is it. Tired of paying big bucks for the suspension bridge and Grouse tram, then slow down and enjoy the views from atop the dam

Great place to go hiking. Not too difficult. Beautiful nature, mountains and water. The waterfall and our drinking water dam is worth checking out for sure, especially for North Van residents.

This is a great couple of hours of nature loving and its only 20 minutes from the city. We were heading to the Capilano bridge but made the mistake of driving there only to discover that all the parking lots were full. So we just drove on and happened upon this oasis of tranquility just 5 minutes up the road from all the touristy hoopla. Easy parking then a lovely walk over the short dam where we took lots of photos. Its was amazing. There are trails through the forest but they are all downhill. Which means that once you've had enough, you have to walk back all uphill. Take proper shoes, water (although we drank from the brilliantly clear and cool streams) and dress light. Not baby, push chair, granny or disabled friendly. Your dog will love it though.

Worth stopping and walking the trails is that is what you like. Map at the beginning of the trail gives you a few option for the distance you prefer. When you look down from the large bridge you can get a great look at how high up the dam is.

Did I mention Free Free Free!?!? I was blown away -- after having had to pay for everything, and parking galore, to find a free parking lot next to a massive park and recreational area, with hiking trails and a Salmon Farm. Trail maps in the parking lot were free of charge, and after starting at the Dam (which was dam impressive itself) we followed the dam trail to the lower dam for a view from underneath, continued following the trail to the Salmon Hatchery and ladder which was hugely impressive (It blew the Seattle fish ladder away!!) and then continued a loop trail over a bridge and back up to the reverse side of the dam. It was a great, empty, tourist-free, FREE sightseeing/nature/trail hike. Amazingly well kept secret I'm almost ashamed to be announcing.

Great spot to walk around, look at the pristine watershed and the knee-shaking height of the dam (from above). Really nice trails - well maintained and wide. Free parking. It's a great regional district (Metro Vancouver) park, and the area's watershed, and well worth the trip up Capilano Road in North Van to get to it.

The vantage point near the spillway on the dam wall provided great reflective views of the lake & the gardens would prove to be a popular picnic spot.

Cool to see the dam and the view down from the top, but not a lot of information about the inner workings and the construction of it.

The Cleveland Dam in Capilano River is located on the way to Grouse Mountain, a few kilometers before it. It is a park, you can go by car and live it at the parking or go by bus as I did.The landscape on your right, beautiful, with The Lions giving it special touch, and on your left the dam with the free-fall water and the majestic scenery. After spending as long as you want enjoying the landscape and the energy of the water falling, you have the option of going for a hike because there are several trails starting just after the Dam, some will take you down along the Capilano River, some others will let you to enjoy the dense nature with the river sound as a background, and they are easy trails, the longest about 5 km. I did the Capilano Pacific Trail, which took me to Ambleside Park after 2 hours hiking with my baby in the backpack carrier, it was an easy trail (well, not that easy with 15 kilos on your back) nice scenery as those you get used to in Vancouver, and the best thing it is not a crowded area, and totally free, nothing to pay.

A park in Vancouver almost always succeeds expectations because wildlife and scenery are always abundant. It was no different at this park as the trails seclude you from the city and truly relax your soul. The major downfall of the Cleveland dam is the extremely poorly maintained trails. At times I felt slightly lost do to trails jutting into the middle of nowhere and other times the trails featured very dangerous slopes that most be crossed to get to the other side. The occasional steps were rotten and the direction of trails were incorrect at certain points. The dam itself is a nice view from the top and the free cost is an added bonus. Please respect the park and clean up after your dogs.
