Chinese Mountains are one of several Quadra Island public hiking trails system. Chinese system trails take you up the south peak and the north peak of Chinese Mountains, and the view from the south peak is the better by far. There are other trails to lakes and other mountains branching off from the Chinese Mountains Trails, all signposted and all trails are suited to beginner hikers but still exciting for more experienced hikers. You could glimpse a black bear, a wolf, or a cougar along these trails, but we never have had any problems with any wildlife on Quadra and consider our trails to be 100% safe from wildlife problems with humans. The forest is magnificent, the views stunning, and the atmosphere is green-mossy- rainforest-wilderness peace.
