kamloops museum and archives

I am not sure how to justify spending $383, 000.00 per year to keep the Kamloops Museum and Archives going for only 15,000 students and visitors but with that said I hope there is a way to make it a better investment for our tax dollars! More school visits, Rocky Mountaineer invitations, or invite some paying kiosks into the building.... perhaps some local artisans or folks with antiques to sell ? The archives might make a great host to the Family history society as well? Anyone have some bright ideas?

We'll laid out and very informative, just the right size for a museum.The history of the Aboriginal people was very well done.

The museum itself is impressive, staff very friendly, mostly volunteers I think. They had plenty of information about local history, and provided a great map for doing a walking tour of historic buildings and their stories. I totally enjoyed it.

This museum has a wealth of information and the staff are so friendly and helpful. If you need any information on the Kamloops area, this is the place to visit!

This is not a museum in the same league as some of the worlds greats, but it does have a lot to offer. Good use has been made of the relatively small space, with the creation of different "rooms". It gives a great overview of Kamloops history and natural environment, and has a number of unique artifacts. There is a separate research room open for all, and a really great kids space with many hands on activities - mostly aimed at primary school aged children where you can even book parties! A great resource for Kamloops. We were happy to give our $3 requested donation for entry.

I love this museum! There's a little bit of everything here for adults and children can spend hours playing in the different areas set aside for them.

We loved the museum, it has an amazing amount of information on the origins of the city and its people. Also has a whole floor dedicated to children, they have games and a personal museum to learn at their level

The museum is located downtown with very little parking. It has multi levels and is quite small. For a city of this size, I would expect to have a full size museum with a lot of information about the area, pioneers, industry and the province. I was very disappointed when I went in to discover parts were very well done and other sections were dingy and not interesting. Needs some serious work before I would go back.

A great place to while away an hour. Donation suggested $5. You will learn about the region with well presented history and a special room for children to play and explore. you can even dress up in old time costumes. I especially liked the recreation of a fishing resort cabin. Also wildlife samples, first nations artifacts, gemstones and more. Location is very near Riverside Park where there are daily concerts in July and August from 7 to 8:30

Vi hade anledning att besöka muséet och arkivet för att hitta information om en släkting som vistats där på 1920-talet. Annars hade vi nog inte stannat i stán över huvud taget, än mindre besökt muséet. Men det visade sig att de hade en fin liten utställning om orten ur ett historiskt perspektiv. Vi spenderade en eftermiddag i arkivet och läste artiklar om Kamloops och Tranquille. Vi tittade också på gamla foton från 20-talet. Det var en liten historisk odyssé som visade sig vara rätt intressant. Vi skrev ut en del artiklar som vi ska läsa hemma. Man kunde också köpa foton om man ville. Personalen var mycket hjälpsamma och trevliga.
