Very beautiful to see, it something different from what I had ever seen before. There is an amazing view there as well.

I expected some tourist trap, stores filled with local wares. The walk out onto the water is so unexpected. Running shoes and cameras are mandatory. But the carved out overhangs of rock are the reason you are here. Sit in the sun, protected from breezes and enjoy the beautiful views.

It is at the end of Malaspina road which is off Taylor bay road. I did not like the amount of parking that was available although you could always park on the road. It is a short walk (200 meters) to the sandstones through a small forest. I saw kids jumping off a cliff in the water and they all looked like they were enjoying themselves. The carved sandstones are beautiful.

Malaspina GalleriesThe Malaspina Galleries, a unique geological formation, is a "must see" if you visit Gabriola Island, just a short ferry ride from Nanaimo, B.C. These galleries are 100 metres long and 4 metres high. You can drive a car or ride a bike to within a hundred meters of this rare formation.
