My friend came up from Grande Prairie for the day so we went to NAR as this was his very first visit to Dawson Creek. He has drove thru but never visited the city so i took him on a tour of it. After we visitef the Mile Zero Cairn we went to the world famous Mile Zero Post downtown and we had a very nice lady take our photo on the post. I would for sure take any friend here who comes up. I myself live up here

This is a must stop for all visitors. Here you can take your picture at mile zero of the historic Alaska Highway next to the sign. There is also an old train to check out. The railway museum and old grain elevator are definately a hit with visitors. When I was growing up in Dawson Creek the railway was active. I know the Station Master and his family who lived and worked in the train station.

We were looking for a park and found the area, but rather than a park it had an array of historical buildings. The only 'rail' element per se was one train car and it isn't opened for the public to view, nor is there any signage. The museum and grain elevator were terrific but as far as looking forward to a 'railway park' ... it seemed rather non-existent.

The museum located in the original Northern Alberta Railway Station is extremely interesting and well worth a visit. We found the film on the making of the Alaskan Highway particularly interesting and it was a great way to start our journey up the highway.

Good area to park and explore downtown on foot. Don't miss tourist info and museum in old railway station. Be sure to visit the Art Gallery - converted grain elevator.

We went to the 80th Anniversary party of the N.A.R. Park in Dawson Creek yesterday. Every time I visit the Train Station Visitor Center and Museum I am surprised by the big collection of artifacts from the area and although I am not much for taxidermy, the large collection of animals is impressive and very interesting.I could have wandered around looking at the museum for the whole afternoon. We watched part of a movie about the construction of the Alaska Highway, had coffee and goodies too.Its a great place to go.
