Nova Scotia has a long sea going history, being a peninsula. Great place to learn about all ships, ocean environment, and all aspects of marine history. I really enjoyed my visit here and would highly recommend a visit here.

This museum has something for everyone, from Theodore Tugboat to the Titanic exhibit. There are models of hundreds of boats and ships, plus an excellent display about the Halifax Explosion. Well laid out with clear explanations and good visuals. Worth a visit for all ages.

Being a huge fan of Tall Ships and ship models, I make a trip down to the Maritime Museum at least a couple of times a year. I've always been impressed by their collection of Royal Canadian Navy ship models as well as tall ships and smaller vessels, some famous, some not so much, but all of them so well crafted down to the minutest of details. There are also some lovely paintings and maritime artifacts, as well as exhibits on both the Titanic and the Halifax Explosion. Also, wander through the old William Robertson and Son Ship Chandlery, a restored shop as it looked at the turn on the century. This has been here since I was a little girl and it's like stepping back in time. Well worth the price of admission!

Like the building and the information...got a wee bit lost but got back on track. I brought a friend whose parents landed in Halifax so it was more special for him than myself

Well worth it if you're into to all things nautical. Lots of info on the Titanic and the Halifax explosion. I enjoy the boat displays too.

I really love the MMA. If you're walking the waterfront on a busy summer day you can easily get away from the crowds, get out of the sun, into the air conditioning, and take a break. The Halifax Explosion exhibit always grabs me and they rotate new exhibits in and out of the place throughout the year. Plan on about an hour and take your time.

This is an outstanding museum showcasing a vast array of maritime articles and vessels. The displays are well labeled with thorough explanations so there is no need to wonder what you are looking at or where it came from. The section on shipwrecks was probably my favorite. The statistics on shipwrecks are astounding and the displays of the recovered artifacts and details of many of the shipwrecks is very well detailed. And yes, as you guessed it, there is even a Titanic display. It walks you through the tragic unfolding of events of the Titanic and the unfathomable outcome and loss as a result. There are many artifacts, handwritten logs, photos, etc. Come visit the museum and learn about the real "Jack" aboard the Titanic.

You can spend a reasonable amount of time here, with it,s models and stories of ships and their histories and what people went through. Museum staff are very friendly and knowledgable. And while you might think the titanic would be the star attraction, it,s actually a parrot called merlin who continually tries to steal the show.Well worth the visit.

This is a very interesting exhibition. The Halifax explosion information is excellent because it is not something we generally know much about. The Titanic connections are also fascinating.

I've been twice now to this museum. I really enjoy all of the amazing history contained here. The Titanic and the halifax explosion are both amazing exhibits.

We wished we had found this hidden gem earlier in the day. Arriving about one hour before close, we managed to rush through and see everything, but wish we had about three hours, too bad it is not open later. The information on the Titanic tragedy is ample. Lots to take in, great for all ages.

The place was clean and had good descriptions and models of many times in the 20th century at sea. There was a parrot exhibit there too.

Brought the kids here. They spent hours learning about the Halifax explosion and the sinking of the titanic. Great artifacts. Have been in the summer as well - there is a great playground right near the waterfront. We go here and then have a picnic.

A short walk from the cruise terminal, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is an excellent way to spend an afternoon in Halifax. Fortunately, we attended on a day where the local symphony was giving a concert, so we had a bonus! Two exhibits give a good look at the history of Halifax--the Halifax Explosion exhibit and the Titanic exhibit (the Titanic exhibit has a replica deck chair that you can sit in). We also didn't realize until touring the museum that Cunard (of the famous cruise line) was originally from Halifax. Also--you get a discount if you are a AAA member!
